Beneath Green & Blue (Faust De Lavega) [Completed]
« on: November 05, 2020, 12:25:41 am »
School had just ended, the bell ringing into the distance signifying everyone that students would be rushing off to after-school study groups, snacks, or enjoying the afternoon weather. Clouds drift in the wide-open blue sky as birds exchange songs as they soar. Natsuki wishes she had avian genetics and not rodent ones. Hakoniwa Academy is known for many things, but its teachers watching out for students was not one of them.

She's shoved roughly into the physical education equipment shed's side panel. The loud thud so close to her sensitive ears caused them to fold and turn inward for protection. Typically, they would be hiding beneath her hat (approved by the principal), but Sora held it in her hands where Natsuki couldn't reach it without getting to close. It wouldn't be the first hat she's lost over the school year. The Alpha female never heard of showers or deodorant as her sour pheromones attacked Natsuki's nose; while not as delicate as Alcmene's or a rabbit's, the sharp scent invaded her lungs, causing her to cough.

"Look, Bunny Rabbit," Takara says to get her attention. An Alpha male who smelled just as bad with his spoiled cabbage scent. "We just want the answers for Friday's test. Just give them to us, and we be on our way."

"Maybe if you study you'd know what the answers are," Natsuki remarks. They'd be whispering and staring at her all day, so she'd knew they would try to bully her into giving them the answers. The other students caught on and fled the scene before they could get caught. Unfortunately, she wasn't fast enough to evade them and ended up in this terrible situation. "Though you two don't know what a shower is so I doubt you know what a textbook is." Wrong thing to say. Takara punches the wall next to Natsuki's head, causing her to straighten and stare at him like a deer-er, rabbit in headlights.

"Listen b*tch," he begins, his sour scent thickening as his anger rises to the surface. "We want those answers. The other nerds caught on, and are better at hiding than your punk ass. Or, are you waiting for big sister Alcmene to come to the rescue?" As her sister's name spills from his mouth, Natsuki feels the beginning of rare anger emerge.

"Leave my sister out of this!" Natsuki shouts, head butting Takara in the nose as she tries to escape. Sora snatches her backpack and pulls her back, wrapping an arm around her neck, preventing the rabbit hybrid from escaping.

"Takara isn't going to like that," the female Alpha says as Takara stands with blood dripping down his nose.

"You're gonna regret that, b*tch." He violently grabs her rabbit ears, pulling her out of Sora's grasp.

"Stop, let go of me!" Natsuki's words fell on deaf ears. Sora kicks the rabbit hybrid's legs out from underneath her to make her fall down. The pull from her ears shooting pain all around her head. It felt like they were trying to rip her ears off her head. Takara kicks Natsuki in the stomach for good measure. Sora pulls off her backpack and empties the contents on the ground - notebooks, pencils, study books falling out. She flips through each one, searching for the test answers, and growls when they don't magically appear.

"Where the f*ck are the answers, b*tch?" Sora demands, but Natsuki couldn't hear her. She sat on her knees, trying to alleviate the pain with tears streaming down her face from the intensity. If Takara kept up, he really would remove or severely damage her rabbit ears.

Another afternoon beneath the skies of the land of the rising sun. Faust still found it a bit unusual that he'd been given the assignment to come out here  to Japan. It did perplex him just a tad that Dusan had chosen him from the other Jr agents to come over? It wasn't as if SPIRIT couldn't get access to more parts of the globe with relative ease given the teleporter tech most of the higher ups had. It was used for emergency response  typically when a portal began to open or anything extreme. But not all agents were given that level of autonomy. Similarly it was unusual for a Jr agent to be relocated but it seemed Dusan had something in mind for him. What that was he didn't know.

But Faust was grateful for the opportunity. He liked to travel and experience the world, his parents encouraged it. Maybe that was why he'd been selected? Oh well. Whatever the motive, Faust knew not to worry. Whatever trials the day would bring there was nothing to be prepped for by worrying over things you couldn't control. He whistled a little bit of a tune as he left the school facility to start making his way back towards the apartment he now called home. He typically finished his school day with Gym class and his personal soccer ball was bouncing up into the air. It was a simple enough drill for the sport, Faust juggled the ball from his left to right foot trying to take a step in between.

His pace was slowed but he was able to keep the ball in motion, letting it land against the lace of his shoe before it sailed back up to the height of his eyes and then back down. Faust did have some difficulty in adjusting to this new place but he was adapting well. The biggest thing that was hard was mostly the culture difference in not just approaching and saying hi to people. No you were supposed to be properly introduced which was a bit different. The young man did from time to time create social faux pas but often was able to cover over for it by just being charming and apologetic.

There was a small surge of students walking perpendicular do him. He was still getting used to hearing a different language but he could only make out a few words of 'sorry for' and 'not my problem'. It was enough to catch Faust attention but he didn't think much before hearing a resounding thud. It sounded as if someone had struck something metal. He caught the ball in his hands before turning to go and investigate.

The sight that awaited him was enough to make his initial blood boil. He never liked bullies and that was certainly what this situation looked like. One smaller girl on her knees having what appeared to be bunny ears being violently pulled from her head as another seemed to be rummaging through her belongings. It was always possible that a circumstance wasn't how it appeared but Faust wasn't about to let someone be hurt any longer than they already had been.

Giving the ball a light toss he brought his right leg back before striking the soccerball with a ferocious kick before the object had made contact with the ground. Faust might not be a professional player but he was still able to kick with enough force that the ball went sailing at around 60 miles per hour before it struck Takara in the side of his head.

"Oops. I guess the ball just got away from me."

His tone was playful, the element of sarcasm easily notable as he grinned. It was then that his nose caught the terrible scent. Good lord even the Alpha's he played sports with didn't seem this rank after a game. Maybe there was something to the whole idea of clean sweat? He'd have to look into that later. But for now his attention was focused on the boy and girl tormentors. While Faust had reservations of hurting an innocent, he didn't have reservations over hurting a female if they were being violent towards others. Faust was new to this and honestly he didn't know how the two of them might react. It was possible that just being confronted could cause them to run, on the other hand they might just get mad and be ready to attack.

"Leave her alone. If you really want to get your hands dirty then come at me."

Natsuki opens her eyes at the new voice. It was Faust, a tall classmate with dark skin and emerald eyes. While the two never held a conversation, Natsuki was fully aware of the exotic aura that captured other students' hearts with rumors of a fan club devoted to him. She watched in fascination as he kicked the soccer ball into Takara's head, causing the boy to release her ears as he fell to the ground. Taking the chance, she scurries ahead and hides behind Faust's athletic form for protection. Her heart is pounding in her chest as instincts demand she runs from Sora and Takara.

Takara takes a minute to recover, holding his head as blood continues to trickle down his face from his nose injury. His sharp glare is promising more pain if he gets ahold of the rabbit girl.

"F*ck off, Beta. That girl owes me," Takara shouts. Sora steps on Natsuki's writing utensils, effectively breaking them.

"She said if we pay her ¥500 each, she'd give us the answers for Friday's test," Sora interjects, picking up a notebook and flipping through it once more. "She got our money, but refused to give us the product. So we're filing a customer complaint against her." Sora rips the notebook in half and lets it fall to the ground. Paper scattering in the dirt and flying off into the wind.

Natsuki shakes from fear, grabbing hold of Faust's clothing in a failing attempt to calm herself down. Would Faust believe them? Would he walk away, leaving her alone to deal with the class bullies? "They're lying." Please believe her. Please believe her. "They cornered me before I could run. I didn't take their money or say any of that." Natsuki can imagine what would happen if Faust leaves, and it causes her body to shake more. She wouldn't be able to outrun Sora and Takara.

"If you don't believe us..." Takara says, grabbing onto the soccer ball. "Then you can have a taste of your own medicine!" He throws the ball at Faust. Natsuki covers her head, bracing herself for impact.

It had been a doozy of the last two years and it had been enough for Faust to learn what a skilled liar looked like. Granted he was no walking truth machine but there were always tells. Faust made habit of watching videos of habitual liars and looking for indicators of what was the truth and what was a lie. Politicians, Gamblers, Criminals, everyone had something about them that gave them away and in this case Takara and Sora were transparent. 500 yen... Wasn't that like 5 dollars? The price of the destroyed scholastic material was more than that by a large margin.

Faust wasn't a violent person but he also wasn't passive. He'd faught weirder things than two schoolyard bullies and honestly even if it got him in trouble to fight back it wasn't like he'd be kicked out for it. Dusan would almost certainly smooth things over. Although he didn't want to presume on his boss since it wasn't exactly free for him to expend the company money that would be required in any sort of cover up. If he was going to win this fight he had to do so in such a way that brought the least repercussion possible. When Natsuki managed to scurry behind him he tried to turn and offer her a small smile.

"Hey don't worry. You're safe now."

He figured that a positive attitude was best. But the optimism would have to be put on hold when the soccerball was sent hurtling back at him. His instincts kicked in as his hands came up to quickly snatch the ball from out of the air before starting to once more juggle it on his foot.

"You know throwing a ball is gonna deal way less damage than if you kick it." A slow toss of the ball upwards set it up. "I figure you might have learned that at least."

It was then that he drew back his leg and gave the ball another canon like kick to send it through the air. Takara who had picked up on the small verbal hint this time dodged to the side with a confident smirk. However Faust too was smiling knowingly. His target hadn't actually been Takara's face but given the bloody nose and prior headshot it was easy for Faust victim to think as much. It was only as the Alpha male dipped aside that the ball struck Faust real target. Sora was hit square in her face as Faust gave a mock gasp.

"Oh no! I can't believe you were willing to let her get nailed like that."

It was subtle manipulation but it helped a few things. One it sewed distrust between the two. Additionally if there was a sadistic streak it was even possible Takara might find it funny that Sora now was suffering like he was. Sora however would possibly assign half the blame for her injury to her cohort. All of it was really just a psychological dance. Worst case scenario was that Faust now had both their attention which meant they would stop tormenting Natsuki's belongings and possibly engage only with him.

"You know though I gotta say that I do feel bad about this. You two seem like you don't have much aside from your reputations as being tough alphas and it wouldn't look too good for word to get out that you guys got beat up by a single Beta from America. Why not use your strength for some school pride and join one of the sports clubs? You know it would give you an outlet for all this testosterone and you could take some pride in your wins other than taking on physically weaker people."

When the ball didn't hit her, Natsuki opens her eyes and peeks from behind Faust. She hadn't expected him to catch it, but for him to dodge so the ball could strike her. As he gears up to kick the ball, she couldn't help but stand back and admire him. His form, his aura, his entire being pulsing with power like it was all a game to him. Sora and Takara are just Level 1 newbies who thought they could tackle and conquer Faust like another character. No, he was a Level 60 hidden character that once aggroed would fight until his opponents are defeated.

Natsuki beholds Faust as he kicks the soccer ball like it's nothing towards the bullies. Takara evades, but at the cost of Sora's face greeting the ball with a loud smack. A crunching sound is not audible to Takara or Faust, but the rabbit hybrid hears it plainly; Sora's nose most likely broken from the impact. She falls, holding her face as blood pours out. Natsuki's ears turn to listen to Faust as he baits the Alphas. Takara and Sora fall for it and end up arguing with each other. Unpleasant names exchange as each adds more creative usages.

"You're a selfish, Beta-humping, highway baby because your momma decided to spread her hairy legs instead of swallowing you," Takara shouts.

"What the f*ck did you call me you background character reject who writes like a caveman and f*cks like a ostrich?" Sora screams back as she stands. She begins chasing Takara, who runs past Faust and Natsuki without another word. Both still bellowing insults at each other as they disappear from view.

Natsuki sighs and collapses onto her knees. Though the event was short, her energy was depleted from running and crying. Carefully, she touches her head and hisses at the sensitivity. Her scalp aches, but nothing feels torn, which is good. She slowly feels up her ears for any damage. They'll most likely bruise, so she won't be able to hide them in a hat until healed. Better than torn though it'll take looking in a mirror to be sure.

She glances at Faust as her heartbeat slowly goes back down, the fight or flight instinct fading away.

"Thank you for saving me. They would've pulled my ears out if you hadn't come," says Natsuki. She stands up on wobbly knees, pushing off the dirt from her school uniform before making her way to her school supplies or what's left of them. She picks up the notebooks, pens, pencils, and torn paper, placing them in her school bag.

Faust felt a bit of relief that the two aggressors were now fighting with each other rather than taking their latent frustrations out on Natsuki or him. Faust had a fair bet that he could handle the situation but one could never be too sure. It also meant less likely that some teacher would come along and have to get an explanation out of everyone. Then it would just be a case of he said she said and no one really wanted that. The vocabulary that the two used on one another was... different. But even as they disappeared from view he heard the last few statements which might have made a person blush. His attention was then brought back to Natsuki when she addressed him with a thank you. He put his hand to the back of his head and gave it a slight rub in a subdued gesture of humility.

"Oh I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time."

He then saw her trying to move and gather the things off the ground. He dismissed his ball and jogged over to kneel beside her and started to try and help gather and straighten everything up for her. His gaze mostly fixating on the broken or ripped supplies.

"Is your head okay? I've got some heating and cold pads in my bag you can use. I'm not exactly an expert on lagomorph physiology but usually a cold one helps with stiffness and pain from a strain."

He figured that while they would need to address her destroyed belongings that her immediate health was of a far greater concern. He blinked a few times while trying to take a look at the ear to see if there were visible cues to the severity she had been hurt.

Natsuki is surprised Faust is still here. She figured he would've grabbed his ball and jogged away, leaving her alone to her thoughts and broken supplies. No one has come to her rescue before, and any who witnessed the bullying always looked the other way for fear of becoming targets themselves. Shining blue eyes stare at him as he helps her gather her belongings. It shocked her that there were still kind people in the world despite being the superhero's younger sibling.

"I'll be fine. It isn't the first time they've pulled my ears. Once they calm down and realize they still don't have the answers, they'll find me." It's disheartening to admit, but the cycle repeats without fail since the beginning of the school year. Sora and Takara knew that if Natsuki hadn't told Alcmene by now, they doubt she will. Natsuki sighs heavily, wanting to go home and crawl into her nest and munch on treats. She'll have to go purchase a new notebook to rewrite her notes, so that means making a side trip on the way home.

The rabbit hybrid looks at her backpack and notices the link for her keychain missing. "Oh no..." Natsuki scurries, searching the ground for her missing figurine. Would Sora or Takara have taken it? No, they were too preoccupied to notice the cute brown bunny in a pink tutu. It was attached to her bag at the end of class, so it couldn't have fallen far. "Where is it?" It's nowhere on the ground. Could it have been kicked elsewhere or crushed? "Have you seen a bunny ballerina figurine anywhere? It's brown and pink in a passé en relevé pose."

The knowledge that she felt they would come after her again caused Faust to stick his lower lip out in the beginnings of a frown. He put his hands on his hips while standing slightly arms akimbo.

"Well that's hardly any incentive to leave then if you think they're gonna come back I'll just have to be sure to be here with ya."

Faust had managed to get what he thought was everything off of the ground and back into her backpack. The idea she would need to replace her book though was a little disheartening. He tried to recall which book it was that had gotten torn before snapping his fingers and sliding his own backpack around in front of him, still slung off of his shoulder. It was as he was fishing around he hmmd when she was seeming to panic at the loss of another thing that had troubled her.

A bunny figure? Faust couldn't say he recalled seeing anything like that during the scuffle but he was certain it was possible that it would be on the ground. He wasn't acquainted well with French but the rest of the description gave him an idea of what to be on the look out for. Brown against the green grass would be hard to notice so he tried to examine for the flash of pink that she said colored it.

"I don't see it just yet..."

His tone was still one of optimism as he tried to take a step to the side to look around where her bag had been on the ground by the time he had arrived. Likely it had fallen off when she was first grabbed by the Alpha's which meant if he looked around near where they had been standing. he might have better luck.

"But don't worry. I'm sure we'll find it."

He had to stop and crouch down so that he rest on the balls of his feet trying to step as little as possible in case it was to be stepped on. His gaze then settled on his soccer ball. There was a spot of blood on the white chevron pattern but nothing terribly disgusting. He mindfully picked the ball up and held it over his head to spy the little keychain charm looking up at him.

"Found it!"

Placing the ball behind him he was careful to gather it into his hand and stood back up to offer it to her in his open palm.

Natsuki's worried face instantly switches to a smile as she takes the ballerina into her hands. Thankfully, it's not damaged, and it'll be easy to put it back on the keyring. "You found Odette! Thank you!" It's a silly thing to worry over a keychain figure, but the meaning behind it meant everything to Natsuki. With minor difficulty, she slips into the passé en relevé pose. Her left leg straightened as the right bends upwards to form a sideways V with the toes pointed mid-leg. Natsuki spreads her arms like mimicking the bunny ballerina. School shoes aren't meant for this, and her ballet slippers are at home. For this precious moment, she forgets about Sora, Takara, and her problems. Ballet takes her out of her mind and concerns.

Subconsciously, her ears go to flatten against her head as she becomes relaxed, but she releases a sharp hiss in pain as the sore muscles force her ears to straighten up again. It forces her out of the fantasy world and back into reality. Gently, she touches her ears to feel if there's any blood, but her arms only make it a little over halfway. None, so far, and if there was, Faust would have surely told her, right? "If the offer is still on the table, I'd like to take you up on the cold packs." It sounds painful but wonderful at the same time to help with the heat radiating from her sensitive ears and soothe the aches.

Ice blue eyes filled with uncertainty stare up at Faust. They barely knew each other, if at all. She knows him from class and the whispers exchanged from his fan club and classmates. During the days when she stays behind to finish up homework, she'd find a quiet corner to watch the soccer team. It's easy to pick Faust out amongst the rest, and there was something about him that caught her attention though she would never admit it. No one needed to know. Everyone knew her - Natsuki Kubo of the Kubo family, who paved the way to animal hybrids and genetic mutations. It also doesn't help that Alcmene is Japan's first rabbit superhero making their family more known. She's not smart like her parents or strong like Alcmene - there's nothing special about her. "Nevermind, I better get going before Sora and Takara show back up. Thank you again, Faust. I owe you." Natsuki bows politely, grabbing her backpack to head off. The bunny ballerina safe inside her jacket pocket.

Faust was gentle in the way he handled the small charm and even as he let it transfer into Natsuki's delicate hands he found it to be rather fitting for her. Hearing the name he did recognize that and let his right hand fall comfortably to his side. His posture was one of relaxed confidence. Not cocky but just as if he was settled into his element through the whole situation. Honestly it wasn't that Faust liked picking fights and honestly until he'd been hired by the CDC he'd only done very little martial arts practice for a class or two. But self defense was important in his newfound career and his training partners often did more than just throw a punch. Creeping mind possessive shadows, dragons the size of houses, elemental titans, you had to know how to adapt and improvise on the battlefield.

"Odette as in Swan Lake. I actually know that reference."

Faust beamed a little as he saw the young woman take the familiar pose of her figurine, the iconic ballet posture before the pain in her ears seemed to return and make her wince to try and reach for them. His expression of relaxion changed back to one of concern as he bobbed his head in a quick nod of agreement. He was more than willing to offer the ice pack and turned to reach into his sports bag. As he was briefly attention divided she suddenly seemed to be eager to depart. He lifted his head and blinked his eyes rapidly.

"Wait! The least I can do is make sure your ears are okay. Besides even if those two show back up I'm sure we can handle them." He tried to gather his things to run after her to once more close the distance between them. "I never got your name. Please forgive me. I'm still kind of bad with the whole etiquette here in Japan. I've seen you around but never had a chance to say hi."

Natsuki turns her head at his voice, her brown ears tuning into his words. Why did he care if Sora and Takara returned? She was just another classmate, sitting in the back corner, hoping no one would notice her. Honestly, it surprised her - him not knowing her name. She knew his name, but everyone did—the foreign student with bronze skin like the Sunkissed him. Wide blue eyes stare at him, taking in his appearance like he'd disappear in the next second. Those green eyes shining like emeralds could suck her soul if she gazes into them too long. Part of her wants to continue walking until he disappears from sight until he's another shapeless figure in her life. The other part, though...

Swallowing her fear, she closes the space between them. Being 4'6", forcing her to tilt her head up at the other.

"Natsuki. I'm Natsuki Kubo," she says. She's surprised he doesn't know her name - everyone did once they saw her ears and put two-and-two together. The younger sister of Alcmene Kubo, Superhero Bunny, saves Tokyo and volunteers her time to various organizations. Compared to Alcmene, Natsuki is a dark shadow whose abilities don't save people and aren't as useful. "What would you do if they came back?" It's a silly question, one an elementary kid would inquire about thugs and gang members. She's been dealing with her own bullies for so long that the idea of someone else willing to help is odd. It would be easy to tell Alcmene about Sora and Takara, but Alcmene has more important things to worry about besides her little sister's schoolyard troubles. "Would you be Prince Siegfried and rescue Princess Odette from Baron Von Rothbart?"

It's an odd question, loaded even to anyone who knows the plot to Swan Lake. Natsuki isn't thinking of the variations of characters and additions added to the 1876 ballet composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. She's thinking of Act II - will Siegfried shoot Odette?

It wasn't every day that Faust came across someone quite like Natsuki. He'd met other species from other planets but since arriving in Japan it seemed that some people were just different and it was open and accepted. It still did seem to be that if she was being bullied it could be because of her traits or it could have been for her intellect. It didn't really matter to Faust which was the reason, a bully was a bully. A part of him was a little concerned that for his getting involved and defending her, did it mean that those two would be harder on her next time? It was something he wanted to ensure didn't happen. He also wasn't sure if her attempt to dash away was still something more of a culture matter or not. But all things in time would become apparent and he was glad when she turned to address him.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Natsuki. I'm Faust De Lavega. As for what I would do if they came back? Well try to convince them there's really no need for violence, but I guess if they persisted then I'll just have to keep fending them off with a soccer ball."

His voice carried off with a slight laugh at the end. It was a little bit funny to think that the only weapon he had used was indeed the ball. He had to think about what some of the other Jr or even Senior agents would think about such a silly fighting style. It wasn't exactly the norm but a part of him wondered if he should try to incorporate some sort of special ball into his fighting. They'd given him a hoverboard? Maybe the ball wouldn't be too off.

Natsuki's bright blue eyes were complimentary to the soft and rather cute features of her face. Her ears framing her face well with the brown hair. It was enough to make the young man push his hand back through his own hair to keep it a bit away from his brow. His was a clean although distorted style, usually finding a sort of asymmetrical look caused by the wind when he was running along.

"Well given how many variations of that story are I dunno. One of the versions I saw as a child involved Rothbart threatening Siegfrieds life if Odette didn't go with him so Siegfried was willing to kill himself so Odette could be free which ultimately undid Rothbart. I mean I'd hope I could figure out an alternative solution where neither prince or princess has to die."

Natsuki tilts her head, staring at the foreign student with new eyes. He's different than everyone else, not just biologically, but something else. There's something special about him, and she was curious to know what else laid beneath those emerald eyes. Recalling the moments when he kicked the ball into Sora's face and the power behind the attack, she thinks of Alcmene when she kicks a super-powered villain. Maybe it's just his athletic abilities or his physique, but there's something else.

"You're a strange one, Faust," she says. There's more to Swan Lake than Siegfried, Odette, and Rothbart, but those questions are saved for another time. It wouldn't do to add the swan-maidens, Odile, and royalty. Glancing at the ball, she spots the blood and doesn't feel remorse for Sora or Takara. Alcmene would lecture her on not harming others, but Natsuki felt little towards her bullies. They've tortured her since the first year and probably would continue until she graduates. Pulling out the little ballerina, Natsuki looks at it for a few seconds before putting it back in her pocket. Maybe, there's truth in his words - absolute truth; and Natsuki feels compelled to follow him with no doubt lingering in her mind or confidence in him. "Alright, Prince Siegfried. Your skills with your sword-er, ball, speak true."

She steps closer, tilting her head up to look up at him. "You can touch them, but please be careful. I don't think they're bleeding, but I can't examine them without looking in a mirror." Concentrating, she wills her ears to remain still and not shift to listen to traffic, and students still at school. It's a subconscious trait, her rabbit ears automatically turning to a new sound source, which unfortunately draws the attention of people unfamiliar with rabbits. It's why she hides them when she can. It's not comfortable, but it takes the attention off her. Icy blue eyes observe Faust, watching his every move.

The unusual silence that had fallen after his response made Faust feel just a little self conscious. The way she was regarding him seemed to now be one of critical analysis. Had he said something wrong with his answer about trying to make sure no one died? Was she wanting an answer more in line with the book? When she called him strange he couldn't help but give a little bit of a nervous laugh. Even if others saw him as something unique or special Faust just saw himself as a normal person... Well a normal person with some lucky circumstances.

"Um thanks?"

He was able to then notice that her response seemed to hinge more on the allegory of him using the sword to slay the evil wizard or in this case use the ball to run off some less than charitable bullies. By the time she answered him about tending to her ears he had almost forgotten and had to blink a few times. as his head shook to recollect his wayward thoughts.

"Oh of course! I'll be very gentle."

Dropping the ball to his feet he tilted his head to lean in a bit closer to look at her scalp amidst the hair on her head. Mindfully he brought his hand up and let his fingers mindfully touch her scalp to see if there was any residual stickiness caused by bleeding. It was a relief to find none and his hand moved like a soft feather against her ear. He turned back to his bag and rummaged around until he found a chemically reactive icepack.

"Here we go. I can wrap it in my sports towel and you can put it on your head. It should alleviate the soreness."

Natsuki stands still as Faust touches her head and ears. His delicate touch on her head and ears unusual. Her parents and Alcmene tended to be a bit rough, but that's because they knew where exactly to touch and how rough to be, them being the only exception to the rule of no one else touching her. She didn't mind her hair being tussled. The rabbit hybrid didn't know what to expect from Faust's inspection, but him being so careful wasn't one. Natsuki expected rough handling to start if he had never touched a rabbit, their ears as delicate as other animals, with rabbits relying on their hearing to escape predators. Faust was true to his word at being very gentle.

At his words, she blinks up at him, unsure how the ice pack will help but is willing to try it. Usually, she just waits it out, maybe pop a baby aspirin or two, and play games on her phone since she couldn't wear her PC or console headphones without pain. Hopefully, the ice pack helps enough for her to wear a hat or even get a decent sleep.

"Thank you, Faust." She's happy to hear there's no damage or cuts, but it wouldn't mean the next time someone grabs them wouldn't cause it. "I, um, do you want to go get something to eat? My treat, as thanks for saving me." A light blush glows on her face at the words. She doesn't know what pushed her to say them. Maybe it's his smile, or the way he protected her, or his gentle touch. Natsuki would offer a delicious treat but doesn't have any on her for the moment. "There's a pastry shop not too far from here... if you're not busy." She picks up his ball and holds it for him, wondering if he'll say politely decline or say yes.
