| "Fair, but even I've seen that shit eventually count against influencers. Companies have rules, and once they find your actual content and how you promote yourself when you're not promoting their shit, you're as good as dropped. That's how it goes. Something to keep in mind for the future if you find it useful. Just be aware. That's all I can say and have a back up plan. Lord knows just having one main job these days is hard to keep because you have to be 'professional', even when off the clock. Fuck all of that." This is mainly why Howard couldn't keep a normal job. It's not as if he couldn't get one. His mouth prevented him from keeping it. It was hard for him to keep the professional persona up for too long before he grew tired and wanted to kick someone in the throat. So, he knew how hard it was to censor himself when it's not what he's used to doing. He prefers to be honest to people. If he doesn't like something or someone, he will flat-out tell them. He doesn't care if their feelings are hurt in the process. That's for them to deal with, not him.
And here he thought he would be bored and annoyed with Beatrice tonight. He's having a decent conversation for once. Most of the time, the women who came here only wanted to talk about themselves and think only about themselves. They weren't interested at all in the guys that worked here, other than how attractive they were and the attention they gave to them. It seemed all too easy, but compared to most of the women that came in here normally, Beatrice was a treat to have, and that's a change of pace from the usual. She was even interested in the fact that he stated he had other uses for his knives, even if her mind went in a completely different direction. That's when she got into the discussion of one guy she was banging that turned out to be a sack of shit in the end. "Yeah, I don't do weird shit with knives for one. When I said I had other uses for them outside of throwing them, I didn't mean that," he told her, clearing that misconception up so she didn't get the wrong idea about him.
"As for the guy you bagged, it serves him right to be dragged through the mud by the chick he knocked up. Pretty sure he's not having a good time having to deal with that. Even worse when he's not mated to her. So yeah, he's definitely miserable as fuck." He didn't care about Beatrice's situation with another guy. Not at all. He didn't like it when anyone was just trash in general and doing stuff like that to other people and not suffer any sort of consequences. There's always going to be a consequence. It may not happen right away, but it will happen eventually. In this world, being unmated with a child was frowned upon by many, while others didn't care. Howard was one of them. He didn't care if how one got themselves into that situation wasn't stupid. Sometimes, it is on accident, and other times, it's not. A guy like that, that Beatrice was messing around with, with a personality of a rock, was asking for it. So, karma got him in the end. At least she didn't have to put up with him anymore, and she didn't seem to be too bothered by it, so that was good.
The last thing Howard wanted to deal with was someone else's baggage. Even if she was entertaining to talk to. "Well, you seem to be doing well for yourself, so as long as you're not letting past shit get you down, then there's no problem," Howard replied. He didn't have any relevant juicy stories to share with her, so he just enjoyed the conversation and listened to her talk. She seemed to talk a lot and had a lot to talk about. He wasn't complaining, nor was he bored. He would've drawn the line if she'd pulled out her phone and begun live-streaming this like the woman from earlier tonight had done. There was a time and place for that, but this wasn't it. He'd watched her call a waiter over for another drink but also to bring him the drink he liked. The guys at the bar knew what Howard liked to drink, so he didn't have to say anything. It was always the strong Scotch whisky from Scotland, which he was surprised this bar had. It wasn't the greatest, but it was better than the rest of the drinks they offered. "You didn't have to order anything for me to drink. I'm good. Or are you doing it because I'm a good conversationalist?" he joked to keep the mood light. |
