(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Everyone at Kaibara piled out of their classes in a hurry to meet up with friends and hang out or to head to their next class. Normally, students wouldn’t be attending school but for university students, taking classes during the summer was optional and not a requirement. That and it also depended upon one’s major. For Kaoru, he was taking classes during the summer to catch up so to speak. He was the only one out not in a hurry to be anywhere, instead walking at a normal pace and out of the building where he’d just finished one of his remedial classes. He had a free period to use it for studying but instead, the young man decided to use his free period to leave campus. He wasn’t in the mood to camp out there and just felt the desire to get away. It was summer vacation for everyone else yet he was stuck in school trying his best to cram so to speak. He wasn’t fond of the idea of taking classes during the summer but his parents and his therapist had suggested it be a good idea for him to do so since he’d decided to return to school. Plus, he could use that time to bring his GPA up some as it was considerably low which wasn’t good and he could end up flunking out and referred to a different university if he wasn’t careful. That was too much paperwork that Kaoru hadn’t wanted to deal with. As much as he didn’t want to be taking classes, he understood that he had no choice. Even if it annoyed him that many around him clearly understood what was being taught whereas Kaoru found it all to be boring and tedious. At one point he might've had the desire to learn and be interested in this stuff but given the way his life had taken such a drastic turn, he didn't see a point in it. It’s not as if any well paying job would hire someone like him who’s only skills were domestic. He was probably doomed to forever work at the Amestia House for the rest of his life. It wasn’t the greatest of ideas but it was a job even though working at a Heat House was not something he had in mind. Working there only brought back memories of his former lover and the only mate he ever wanted that was forever out of his reach. On top of that, he barely paid any attention to his other coworkers, let alone bothered to remember their names despite working alongside them. Many have often said he had the attention span of a gnat which was why he didn't pay much attention to things let alone people around him. Maybe they were right about that. The things and people he wanted to pay attention to him, they didn't care about him, they got angry with him, said nasty things to and about him, it made just going out the door and being around people to be nothing more than a pain. It's why he stopped trying to be friends with "people". They couldn't be trusted. The one he truly loved and wanted more than anything didn't want him and never did. Kaoru didn't stop walking until he was far away from campus. So far that he'd found himself not far from the lake that was close by. The very same lake which he recalled ever smiling. With everyone in school around this time, the lake was going to be vacant until later in the afternoon. Despite how he felt inside, he strolled in the direction of the known secluded and private lake. He took his time going down the hill to avoid falling and breaking his neck. The last thing he wanted was anyone chastising him about avoiding injuring himself. Reaching the very bottom, he stood under a tall tree. Everything he’d been feeling since his relationship with Mahiro had been broken off surfaced again and he couldn’t help but clutch his chest in emotional anguish. There wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t think about him. About what they had. It hurt him so much that the one person he truly loved didn’t feel the same. It hurt to be led on and to now be left alone. He dropped his school bag on the ground and once he had, he punched the tree in front of him out of anger and frustration, the tears running down the sides of his face like a river as he was now heavily breathing, unable to keep his composure. ’Mahiro-san … I love you … so much! Why?! Why couldn’t you see that!?’ He hated it. Hated seeing everyone around him so happy with friends and with potential future mates. It made him sick. Kaoru wanted that. He believed he had that but he didn’t. He never had it. It hurt so much to deal with the pain of being tossed to the side and feeling empty. As much as he wanted to move on, he just couldn’t. Everything and everyone around him was nothing more than a constant reminder of what he had and would he would never have again. Coming to that realization, Kaoru finally began to cry while slowly falling to the ground on his knees. No longer could he hold it in… |
(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Kaoru's head had begun to hurt as he'd continued to cry. His hands formed into fists on the ground with his head lowered, face completely stained with tears. He already knew it wasn't going to be easy having to deal with everything but he hated how it hit him so frequently and in so many different forms. Whether it was through by just him thinking about the time he spent with Mahiro or seeing couples walking together and being overwhelmed with that feeling of jealousy that he'd never be able to have that. It showed that he disliked how Betas were often overlooked in this society. And maybe some part of the young man did wish he'd presented as an Omega but it wasn't a thought that ventured across his mind often. It only did when others would toss it in his face at how his actions were reflective of how some Omegas are. Which is another stigma of the societal system that has given everyone coke bottle lenses in how they view people around them. So much hatred, so much anger, it'd come boiling out in the form of tears. After a few moments, Kaoru eventually managed to calm himself from heavily crying. This didn't change the fact that he emotionally still felt like shit but he knew he couldn't return to campus that way. Sniffling, he slowly rose to his feet while using the sleeve of his long jacket to dry his face. He would stay for a bit longer if only to give himself some time before returning and had decided on sitting by the edge of the lake. That said when he'd reached down to grab his bag off the ground, only to notice something out of the corner of his eyes. He'd hoped he was seeing things but this turned out to not be the case. With a glare and his expression clearly filled with annoyance, he partially turned his head and his eyes fully came upon a blonde young boy sitting not far away from him and it'd startled him, making him immediately back away only to cause him to end up tripping over his own feet and falling back onto the ground, dropping his bag in the process. He winced in slight pain as his back had made contact with the grass. It didn't make the ground any less hard and seeing some random person appear out of nowhere who'd no doubt had seen him bawling his eyes out soured his mood even more. "Itai..." Kaoru mumbled, pushing himself to sit up. |
(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Kaoru finally rose to his feet and grabbed his school bag but upon being asked if he was okay, he immediately backed away from the younger male, his expression not changing from the rather annoyed one he displayed. To think he not only wasn't alone but there was also an Omega here. Omegas ... were the only ones people wanted whereas Betas were lucky enough to find someone that took an interest in them. Everyone around him always bragged about how Omegas and Alphas were always better compared to Betas. It was insulting to hear on a regular. Of course, the raven-haired young man knew it wasn't the fault of the young male before him, but that still didn't mean he wanted anything to do with him. His eyes narrowed and his lips further formed into a frown as he stared at the blonde for a few seconds longer before turning his back to him. "Go away. You're intruding on my private time alone," were the words that came from his mouth instead of the confirmation of whether or not he was fine. He clearly wasn't. Not emotionally but that wasn't something he wanted to talk about with a complete stranger, much less an Omega. |
(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Hearing what the other male said caused a surge of anger to just flow through him and he turned partially if only to glare at him as if he knew anything of what he was feeling. He knew not of what he went through and the attempt to sympathize just pissed the male off more. Balling his hands into fists, he hid his eyes behind the bangs of his hair, his anger still present. "You ... you shut up ... Don't you dare stand there and pretend to know what I am feeling. It's because of those like you ... Omegas ... everyone always wants you ... and ignore those like me ... well screw you! I am someone who doesn't want someone like you! Now how does that feel?! Huh?!" he shouted at the blonde male, no longer hiding his eyes but the anger in them was clearly visible. |
(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Kaoru could only laugh at what Thunder said. Because he'd heard it all before. Every Omega says they want to be left alone. That is until they become mated to someone and then that desire of wanting to be alone changes. Lies. All of it was lies. The dark-haired young boy was sick of hearing all these lies from people. This one was no different than the rest. Whether to be used like property or not, the fact of the matter doesn't change. Every Omega eventually becomes mated to someone and Omegas are the most wanted amongst the society. Betas like himself only get lucky to have someone interested in them genuinely which makes them those that love harder and stronger. Many would laugh at this notion. They have laughed at it. Saying that Betas were useless, not good for anything. Hell even many Omegas themselves didn't want Betas, wanting and preferring Alphas over Beta partners. Unknowns were a rarity but that hadn't meant they didn't exist. These were those who either gave up their secondary gender to just live a normal life or they had some sort of powers that had them presenting as more than one secondary gender. Even they were becoming more sought out. All of it annoyed and pissed Kaoru off. Why were so many different people he didn't know made out to be so god Damn special? He hated it. He hated this guy, despite not knowing him, he just hated him. It's like he was seeking pity even if he wasn't. All it did was fuel the rage inside the young man more. So much so that despite his laughter, the smile on his face was anything less than an amusing one. More like the expression he had, showed that he mentally and emotionally needed help, even if he wouldn't ask for it from anyone. "Like I haven't heard that crap before from Omegas. It's never even about being treated like property or being abused. It's just a preference, I've heard many of them tell me. On top of telling me that I should stop trying to be like you all even if being an Omega was something, I wasn't trying to be. Do you even realize how insulting that is to hear all the time?! Do you?! No, you don't! You're just like the rest of them. I'm not falling for that 'I want to be left alone' garbage your kind spews all the time. You don't even know how lucky you have to even get people interested in you and not find you useless!" Looking at his left hand, Kaoru didn't realize it'd begun shaking. He used his other to cover it to get it to stop but he was so rattled that it just wouldn't. |
(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Kaoru's hand continued trembling and he kept his other hand covered over it. The anger displayed on his face didn't disappear as he continued to glare at the blonde-haired male who apologized to him yet again. He didn't understand why he was apologizing to him when he had done anything to him personally. The dark-haired male was just angry that the one thing he wanted, he couldn't have. Betas were lucky to be mated with someone that wasn't another Beta. But that was a stereotype he wanted to break and he'd genuinely fell in love with an Alpha and in the end, he was left by him. Kaoru was angry that Omegas didn't know or realize just how lucky they were to be wanted by everyone. Even if they didn't want to be wanted by everyone, it always led to something with someone. The ending result wasn't always an abusive relationship. Who would even want to put up with such a thing? Nobody wants to be abused or feel used. Yet, that was how he felt. Used. It was so sad that it'd come to a point that he couldn't interact with others without lashing out at them which always took people by surprise considering that he was someone known for being meek and shy. Kaoru wasn't that person anymore. He didn't know if he ever could be that person again. He never had any real friends that wanted him around as it always seemed like people were just tolerating his presence. That said, why should this boy before him be any different from the others? Kaoru didn't know how to trust anyone anymore. Found it very difficult to do so. Even if someone wanted to be friends with him and was being genuine, he wouldn't take them seriously. Nobody usually did so why start now? Even now, he couldn't even respond to such an off-the-wall question he'd been asked that had nothing to do with any of what he said. How does one respond to a question about cats when the topic at hand wasn't anywhere near it? He could only stare at the blonde in utter confusion as he watched him toss a rock across the lake water. He didn't respond. He just stayed quiet for a moment before finally forcing himself to move his legs and just sit under the tree he'd punched earlier. The trembling on his hand slowed up but still didn't stop. His heart was even racing so taking a minute to sit down and try to calm himself was the best option for him. If he'd tried to return back to campus, it'd be a bad idea with him being more agitated than he already was. He wanted to hit something or someone so he could stop feeling the way he did. He didn't know if it'd help relieve some of his anger but it sure as hell sounded like a good idea. And that blonde was nothing more than a stranger to him. Given that they live in a world where there were people who weren't human and humans having powers, he couldn't go around punching people without at least expecting to be hit in return for it. Heaving a shaky sigh, he rested his head atop his knees, hiding his face as sniffled, trying his best not to cry again as badly as he wanted to. |
(https://img.nickpic.host/5MF9ed.png) | Why was this guy telling him about some animal that was clearly a stray? Furthermore, why should he care anything about it? What was it supposed to do for him? Make him feel better? Hardly. It didn't make him feel better to be told something he was already quite aware of. Yes, everyone deserves to have some form of happiness but it hurts when that very thing that makes you happen is taken from you. Clearly, the blonde has never had to deal with that. Or maybe he has and he was only saying it out of some form of pity. Disgusting. Kaoru didn't want his pity. He wanted to punch him but he knew he couldn't go around just doing that to any random person. Not without expecting the consequences of his actions. He'd heard the footsteps of the other male approach him but he still didn't move an inch to give him his attention. He was still going on and on about that stupid cat and where to find him if he wanted it. Why the hell would he want that thing? There are plenty of other people who like animals so it wasn't hard to find someone that would want the thing. As he'd heard him left, the young man did eventually turn his head to the side only for his eyes to look down and see the address written on a piece of paper. He continued to sit there and stare at it with clear indifference. What would he do with a cat besides stare at it and it stares back at him? It sounded like a waste of time and effort. Besides, he knew deep down it wasn't a good idea for him to have something such as that around him. Not because he couldn't have it, but because of how he was currently feeling, there was no telling what he'd do without meaning to. That alone sounded horrible and he couldn't risk that. He was struggling to keep himself mentally insane. Kaoru didn't believe that a cat would help with that. Hell, he couldn't trust people anymore so why would anyone think to trust him to take care of an innocent creature that couldn't take care of itself? Seemed like such an odd misconception for him. Without warning, Kaoru had felt droplets of water fall on the back of his neck which sent a cold chill down his spine as he quickly sat up and rubbed that area. Looking up at the sky, he'd seen that it'd gotten darker. Clouds covering the sky suddenly compared to before where it was brighter outside. Being so wrapped up in his own thoughts and feelings, he hadn't noticed the change in weather around him. It wasn't long before it'd begun to rain. Grabbing his school bag, he used it as a cover to protect himself from getting entirely drenched. As for the paper with the address on it, as much as it annoyed him, Kaoru grabbed it and balled it up in his hand before shoving it in his pocket. Whether or not he'd remember it later was up to how he felt. Right now, he reluctantly pushed himself to stand and leave. But instead of heading back to campus, he just decided it was best to head home. He was hardly in the best of moods to sit in class around other people. It's not as if they would call to ask why he was absent from the rest of his classes. He'll just miss today's assignments. 'It's fine, it's not the end of the world if I miss the rest of the day,' Kaoru thought solemnly as he'd reached the sidewalk path and began heading in the opposite direction to the nearest bus stop. |
