Hearing Dusan say what he did caused Haley to frown. He was right, and she knew that. He may have expressed that he was interested in her, but that didn't mean they couldn't interact normally despite that. He still wanted an answer from her, but he wasn't pressuring her to do so every day. If that had been the case, she would've found somewhere else to live sooner. Yet, she was still here, and the two of them lived together like normal. Well, as normal as a man and a woman could live together that weren't romantically involved. She was snapped out of her thoughts the moment Dusan approached her, which took her by surprise since she wasn't expecting him to. His hand had reached out to her face and began caressing the side of her cheek, which sent a shiver down her spine at the feeling, the color in her face causing it to turn bright red from embarrassment.

She wasn't used to this kind of attention being given to her, and she didn't know how to process it, which is why she was struggling so much in giving Dusan her answer. Haley wasn't afraid of him, but it helped hearing him say that she didn't have to be. No, what the dark-haired woman was feeling more than anything was awkwardness and embarrassment, not so much fear. Maybe to him, it just appeared as if she was afraid of him when that hadn't been the case. She thought about apologizing for that but decided against it. She'd be asked why she was doing so, and they'd forever remain on the subject. So she didn't do it. Luckily for her, Dusan changed the subject to there being another case that she might be interested in working on while wanting her to tell him about her day, which would involve joining him with the sandwiches she'd made.

"I see," Haley finally responded. She couldn't lie about not being interested in the new case Dusan came upon, and it was a different topic not involving their personal feelings for one another. Working on a case would help take her mind off of this for a little while. So long as it wasn't anything crazy or ridiculous. "I'm interested in wanting to hear about this new case," she said to him. "I was getting rather bored not doing anything. So, what did you find?" Haley asked him, trying to keep the conversation normal was she stood where she was, then took a bite out of one of her sandwiches.

First Floor Rooms / Re: New Year's Celebration?(Kaoru)
« on: February 11, 2024, 09:44:38 am »
'Figures that's what he was outside my room for,' Kaoru thought as his eyes narrowed at the suggestion. He wasn't in the festive mood like everyone else was about the new year coming. Nothing for him was going to change, so what was there to be excited for was the question that often flickered into the back of his mind. He also knew Tsubasa very well. He'll pout and whine if he declines the offer to celebrate the new year with him. He was only right about one thing, and that was he wasn't in the mood to cook. It wasn't that he couldn't, but he was just too tired from work to bother with cooking. The most Kaoru was probably going to eat was a sandwich. It wouldn't be filling, but to him, it was enough to not go hungry all night until he fell asleep. With the noise going on downstairs in the lobby area, he knew he was going to be up all night.

Kaoru was surprised that Tsubasa wasn't downstairs taking part in the party. He half expected him to do so, but instead, he was here in front of his room, wanting to spend time with him. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck tiredly. He just wanted to be alone, but he didn't understand why this one person was so fixated on sticking to him. It felt too good to be true for any Alpha to genuinely care about him. At most, he allowed for the other to stay around mainly to see how long it would take him to get bored of him and find someone else. His ex had no issues doing that, and he didn't think it'd be any different with someone else. Naturally, it did bother him that Tsubasa admitted having feelings for him, but because he had, Kaoru emotionally kept the other male at a distance. For now, he saw him as nothing more than... another person who was new in his life that he was struggling to get used to. And as much as he didn't want to be bothered tonight, he didn't want to hear him whining or see him pouting about it either. That said, he uses his room key to open the door.

Walking inside, he turned on the lights, removed his shoes, and then turned to look back at Tsubasa, his expression not changing. "Fine, whatever, I'm not doing anything anyway," he grumbled as he began removing his bag from his shoulder and tossing it in the small chair that sat in front of the coffee table. Kaoru then began heading toward the small kitchen in his room. He opened one of the cabinets where he had all his cups and plates located; he grabbed two cups and two plates down and sat them on the counter. His gaze then shifted in Tsubasa's direction as he said, "Do what you want. I'm going to go take a shower. I'm sore from work." He took his leave from the kitchen and headed to his bedroom to shower. Since it'd look like Tsubasa brought food, he didn't really care what it was or how he said it up, which is why he said what he did and went off to wash away today's stresses.

Kaoru, having just finished his shift at Amestia House, was returning to his room at the Amestia Inn, feeling more than a little bit exhausted. The job wasn’t the best – a Heat House, where people spent their Heats and Ruts – but it was all he believed he was good for. He was a housekeeper there and he found the job to be rather stressful, as he had to hear the goings on between the guests and patrons that take care of them all. All he wanted now was to return to his room and get some sleep. Approaching his room, he took out his keycard from his pocket, only for his eyes to stumble upon Tsubasa standing in front of his room door. Honestly, he'd expected him to be downstairs with everyone else who were in high spirits and ready to bring in the New Year. It wouldn't be a new one for him. It would be the same as it has been for the past two years for him. He didn't see the need to celebrate what wasn't going to change.

His expression was one of indifference as he approached the other male while releasing a tired sigh. "What are you doing, Shidou-san?" Kaoru asked him. His gaze shifted downward to the other male's hands and saw what looked like a bento box. Kaoru figured he wanted to stay over and hang out with him or had brought him food from the party going on downstairs believing that he was in his room. It's not like he was required to tell Tsubasa when he worked but he couldn't understand why the other male was so fixated on him. It felt like a trap he was just waiting to be set. But for the past year and a half, he's been stuck to him like glue and won't go anywhere. All he could do was put up with him until he got bored. Kaoru still didn't believe that Tsubasa felt anything for him which he'd yet to respond to since his sudden confession. The other reason why it makes hanging out with him so awkward. Of course, that didn't seem to matter to Tsubasa but it only confused Kaoru even more.

In any case, he wasn't in a festive mood for Christmas and he wasn't in one now for New Year's. Besides, being around so many scents was just going to give him a headache and set off his anxiety. He did not want to deal with that tonight.

'This girl...' The hint didn't seem to be taken that Kaoru was deliberately ignoring her, yet she proceeded to approach him anyway, blocking his view of the sea while shouting 'Hello' in his face. Kaoru's annoyance was evident as a vein appeared on his left temple. She didn't know it, but he could easily push her ass into the water if he wanted to. He was trying not to have a violent outburst and cause a scene. He didn't like himself when he got like that. Still, this girl was asking for it. He didn't understand why she was being so persistent in getting his attention. She seemed to not have taken notice of him crying and shouting earlier as she didn't bring it up, only obnoxiously saying hello to him. Kaoru couldn't help but wonder if she had a couple of screws loose herself. He wanted to be left alone, and she just didn't seem to understand that.

"Tch." This was Kaoru's response as he glared at her, his expression showing that he wasn't interested in some high school girl's antics. "Not interested. Go away, brat," he finally spoke up, his tone also showing how annoyed he was. This girl couldn't have been THAT bored that she had to bother a random stranger she didn't know. And even if she was, what made her think he was obligated to even entertain her? He was now regretting that he even came outside. He only did so because he just couldn't take the festiveness that was engulfed around the inn with guests and permanent residents. It felt suffocating. He was out here to get away from it all. Now, he was being bothered by some girl he didn't know. If it was just to be annoying, he was going to read her good for it. There was nothing she could say that would be remotely interesting to him. But he kept his eyes on her, narrowing them as he waited for her to either go away or respond.

Their lips connected once more as Kuri felt Bridget moving within her at a slow and steady pace. She moaned softly at this feeling, wrapping her arms around his neck as she eagerly returned the kiss. Never before had she imagined that her first time would be with Bridget, but she didn't regret her decision. Bridget also seemed to be giving in to his desires, as she meant it when she told him at the very beginning that she trusted him. The brunette knew deep down that he'd never hurt her. Even now, not once had she felt his powers react the entire time he touched her. Instead, her entire body was left with an overwhelming feeling of warmth that she hadn't expected to feel.

She couldn't tell if this was coming from what they were doing or Bridget's scent as an Alpha. It was hard to tell. Either way, Kuri had no complaints. She wasn't denying him what he needed or wanted. As he continued to enter her, she could feel the pleasure building inside of her, unable to help but move faster while grinding her hips against him as she panted. A hint that she wanted him to move faster. Hearing Bridget's groans, she could tell he was feeling just as good as she was. Not to mention, his scent was releasing around them while her own was doing the same, mixing with his.

Haley's gaze returned to Dusan as he said what he did. Her blush remained, yet her surprise was apparent. A part of her was expecting him to want an answer from her sooner rather than later. This had not been the case. He didn't flat out ask her if what she meant was regarding that night the two of them had kissed but there was nothing else she'd be trying to sort out other than that. Unlike most guys, he seemed to respect that she wasn't ready to talk about it yet and was willing to give her the time to sort out her feelings. She didn't have to avoid him because of that. He wasn't wrong. She had been avoiding him but was trying to avoid making it as obvious as she possibly could. This would be the first time he'd brought up her doing so. He didn't seem upset by it, which was a relief to Haley. It would've made living here stressful and awkward for both of them if he were. Plus, he never gave off the vibe since that time that he had been upset. It was only that night she could sense his disappointment and that he hadn't wanted their kiss to end.

Admittedly, Haley didn't want the kiss to end either. She just didn't want to base any feelings there off of sexual attraction. Dusan was attractive. She found him to be an attractive man. There was no question about that. He could have any woman he wanted but he made it clear he was attracted to her. But Haley didn't know if that was all he felt. She was a woman in her late twenties. Way past the age of hooking up with people, not that she ever did. She certainly knew a lot of peers who did that before deciding to find a mate and settle down with them. Haley was just going through the motions of her life, trying to focus on getting her foot in the door and working on establishing the career path she wanted. She struggled so much that having a mate was something she believed wasn't in the cards for her. Yet, meeting Dusan, such thoughts were slowly creeping into her mind. The only thing that made being able to sort things out easier was Dusan not pressuring her. She was the only one making things difficult for herself because she believed she needed to respond right away.

Haley accepted her misconceptions and bowed her head respectfully to him "I'm ... sorry," she apologized to him as she raised her head. "I'm not used to this sort of thing so I need more time. I just thought ... you'd want an answer sooner rather than later and to avoid making ... talking to you harder for me, I was ... avoiding you," she admitted, with a frown. "Thank you, for not pressuring me." Haley was honest in how she spoke to him. Sure she was nervous that saying all of what she did would make the situation not great but that was probably her not only overthinking things but expecting the worst when it came to talking to people. She knew not everyone was the same but at times, she can admit when she tends to generalize that everyone would respond the same way in a similar situation. A thought process she needed to break slowly.

Haley felt a wave of relief that he wasn't pushing further for her to eat with him. She wasn't unwilling but she hadn't planned on doing that since all she wanted at the moment was just a sandwich. Plus, she wanted more time to look into some other possible cases that she could cover. She'd already gotten her opportunity to cover the Mari Takanawa case and that went very well. She appreciated the chance to do that but she couldn't deny that without Dusan's help, she probably wouldn't have been able to get her report out there. TV Tokyo appreciated her story and looked forward to working with her again in the future. Haley didn't mind that at all. She'd love to work with them again. As of late, the only cases happening that are being reported to the public are smaller ones. It didn't stop the woman from using her investigative knowledge to figure out the culprits behind those cases and the evidence involved. It was good practice for her to sharpen her skills. And as far as she knew, Dusan didn't have any major cases he was working on. Otherwise, he would've told her.

Overall, Haley was just biding time until a case came up that was difficult to solve and outside assistance and resources were needed. That was how her brain was currently working. But there was no denying that she was trying to avoid talking to Dusan about that night between them when they shared a kiss. Although he didn't outright bring it up, he did openly ask her out of the blue why was she avoiding him. Hearing that question made her flinch and a blush suddenly spread across her face as she shifted her gaze to look away from him. He wasn't demanding when he asked her. It was his usual tone he spoke in. There was no avoiding that topic. No doubt he was thinking about it too and awaiting her response to his feelings of attraction. 'Is it really the time to talk about this? I'm ... not ready to respond to his advances yet,' she thought with a small sigh. "Can't hide anything from you, huh?" Haley spoke. "I've just been ... thinking ... about that time," she said to him.

Despite Kaoru currently wrapped up in his own thoughts and emotions, there was no ignoring the sounds of a voice coming from behind him which startled him, causing him to turn around with a look of surprise since he knew for sure he was alone. When and where did this girl come from that wasn't here originally? She wasn't close by him but close enough to where he could hear her but not so far away where he couldn't see her either. Kaoru could see her very clearly. He couldn't help but give her a dumbfounded look as she just spoke to him so casually. He didn't like it. They didn't know each other so why was she trying to be so friendly with him? Turning back around, he quickly used the sleeve of his jacket to dry his tear-stained face. 'Maybe she didn't notice,' he thought, sniffling. He then shoved his hands inside the pockets of his jacket, not turning to face her. Normally, he would shout at anyone he didn't know who tried to approach him but seeing that girl, he didn't have it in him to do it.

Probably because she was clearly a high school student based on her appearance. She looked way too young to be a university student like himself. Thinking that, it only made him a little depressed remembering his time in high school briefly. If he had the chance to go back in time and make it so that he never met his ex, he would. Then he wouldn't be dealing with the internal emotional and mental pain from that time. No doubt, his ex was happy with someone new. He never tried to reach out to him when they broke up and his ex didn't do the same. So, it was clear for a long time they were done with one another. He didn't even have feelings for him anymore. Kaoru felt nothing but anger towards him. He talked enough about this with his therapist and the strange young man who calls himself his friend, Tsubasa. He didn't want to burden anyone else with his past. Certainly not some high school kid. Kaoru continued to stand there gazing out at the water as his breath could be seen in the cold air.

Haley practically jumped out of her skin, hearing Dusan's voice. She hadn't made it to her room in time and now had to face him as he spoke to her. She heaved a small sigh, turning around slowly to face him while still holding the plate in her hand. Compared to the last time he'd come home that day when she wasn't aware that he was, she wasn't wearing her pajamas but casual clothes. A red off-the-shoulder T-shirt and a pair of blue jean pants. She knew she couldn't go outside in the T-shirt she wore. Not because she couldn't but more because of the change in the weather. It was winter here in Japan, and it was starting to snow. Her shirt only made sense to be worn indoors with the heater on which is why she looked more comfortable right now. The same with her hair. It was slightly different since she made more of an effort to style it better so it appeared more sleek compared to before. She had money on hand to buy more products, so it made sense to get those things and use them.

Overall, Haley just looked comfortable, and she'd expected to return to her room to remain that way, but Dusan was home. She wasn't sure why he thought she was living off only sandwiches. She ate more than that. It was only when she wasn't in the mood for a bigger meal that a sandwich sufficed her appetite until later. Then again, Haley couldn't be sure he wasn't poking mild fun at her for it, so she simply accepted it and didn't complain. He didn't seem to stay on that subject long before asking if she would like to have dinner together with him. This question made her blink a couple of times, look down at her sandwiches, and then back up at him. She then pointed at her plate and said, "I already made myself a sandwich since I wasn't planning on eating anything large right now," Haley replied simply. "And I do eat more than just this when you're out. It's just the fastest thing to make when I want a snack and not a meal," she explained.

Unfinished & Finished Threads / Holiday Blues [Kyoko/Open]

It was a cold and snowy day outside, and everyone was bustling in the city, trying to buy gifts for their loved ones for the holidays. Kaoru, on the other hand, was not one of these people. He felt the opposite of the many happy people who were with friends, family, and a partner—things he didn't have. He had family, but his parents could only do so much. He didn't know what it was like to have REAL friends. Well, he could count Tsubasa as a "friend", but found him to be strange and can't take him seriously or believe anything he says as the cycle goes between them. He keeps waiting for him to get tired of him and finally leaves. It hasn't happened yet, but he's not putting it past him. The dark-haired young man was just counting down the days of when that would happen, at least so his brain could tell him, 'See? I told you so.". As for why he was outside today? Simple. He wanted to get away from the Amestia Inn.

They were busy focusing so much on decorating and setting up for a Christmas Party for the long-term residents and temporary guests living there, and Kaoru was just not in a holiday mood. He didn't want to get involved in decorating and pretending that people actually cared he existed. He lived there. He had no connections or relationships of any kind with the people who stayed there. It was just like university. He was alone there and is alone when he is in his room. It was too cold to be out, but it was better than hearing Christmas music playing while decorations and such were being put up. They all received notice of a Secret Santa contest, except instead of picking out something for a specific person, they would all buy gifts and put them under the tree, and people could pick one at random. That didn't sound like fun at all. Not in his mind. Being in the city wasn't better since people were out shopping or eating out at the nearby restaurants. The only place Kaoru felt like he could get peace of mind was at the local docks.

They weren't closed off during the winter as long as there were no incidents. He did remember hearing about a murder over two years ago happening. Since the murder didn't happen specifically at the docks, there were warning signs put up and security cameras to prevent further incidents from happening. Thus, that's where he went, to the docks. His mood didn't change when he arrived there, his hands tucked away firmly in his coat pockets. He simply stood there, gazing out at the water while feeling depressed and all over the place. Nothing was getting better for him. Neither medication nor therapy was working. Kaoru just felt like he was existing without feeling anything. He hated feeling this way. He wanted to feel like a person again but didn't know how to go about doing that. He could talk about everything he felt, but what good was it doing him? Not a thing. Thinking that, he couldn't help but laugh bitterly to himself. The next thing he knew, tears were falling down the sides of his face. These were clearly not tears of joy. There was too much hurt in his heart and eyes to feel happy about anything or anyone.

"What is there to be happy about?" Kaoru said out loud. He removed his hands out if his pockets, forming them into fists at his sides. He stopped laughing but his expression changed to that of sudden anger as he glared out at the open dark water. "Why!?" he began to shout angrily. "Why does everyone around me get to be happy!? Why am I judged for wanting ...!" Kaoru couldn't finish what he said as he couldn't hold back his tears any longer and started crying out loud. "I hate this!" he shouted once more. Lucky for him, he was alone. If he wasn't, he knew he'd be stared at and judged by everyone who was watching and listening to him. He did not want to deal with that.
