This is not where Kae wanted to be. Once again, he was in the infirmary for passing out during class. He’d only been a vampire for two years and he still wasn’t used to the idea of not hanging outside periodically, without feeling the effects of it. It was never good when this happened. He’d either feel tired or just sleep the entire day away until he felt rested. But Kae knew he would never be normal. He supposed it was his fault for getting caught up in something that wasn’t his business. Yet, he didn’t regret it at the same time. Contrary to popular belief it was nice to be told what he wanted to do would waste his life, yet at the same time, the young man still felt as if he wasn’t given the right to choose what he wanted to do for his life. He was given a plan already laid out for him and he hated it. It was tiresome to deal with. Kae didn’t know how long he could fool everyone around him. He may not be kicked out of school for being a vampire but that didn’t mean his classmates and friends wouldn’t treat him differently once they found out about it.
Plus, given the dangerous situations he’d been in, he was fine that people didn’t know about him being a vampire now. The fewer people put in harm's way, the better it was for him. For the time being, he was awake and laying in one of the infirmary beds, staring up at the ceiling with the back of his hand against his forehead. It was warm. He’d been outside for too long today. The cool air indoors was enough to calm his body somewhat but not entirely. He was sure the headmaster would ask questions about what’s going on with him. Kae hated lying but he hadn’t wanted to put anyone in danger because of something he couldn’t control. He was lucky to be allowed to attend public schooling and not a more private one. He was doing his best but couldn’t help but wonder if his best was enough.
’Ugh, I’m too exhausted to think right now,’ Kae thought to himself as he closed his eyes and sighed.
