Settling down it seemed that the change in medication might be beneficial for Sho. While there was no guarantee, it was better than doing nothing or just leaving him to his own devices. The continued muscle pain and blood flow could eventually be a permanent problem if it didn't get addressed and that could be just as bad in some other regards. The doctor set his pen down and stretched his arms above his head a bit almost as if trying to remind himself to be careful of his own health. "Well I wasn't bringing up that new medication as a full on suggestion. I just thought you might find it interesting to know."

Lowering his hands back to the desk allowed for the young man to deliberate. "There are a few ways we can go about this. I could write you a prescription today for a few a more standardized drug. You can leave and go get the shots and start using them immediately. The only trouble is that it might not be a perfect match and might not be effective. We can do a blood draw and over the next few days I can get the blood test results back and have them formulate something designed more for you. The negative is it means you'll be without a blocker for a few days and it might be more expensive." At that moment an idea formed in his head. "Although we could see about giving you some of the medicine that is being tested in the mean time and see if it helps you? If it works then so much the better and if it doesn't, well you wouldn't be any worse off than no medicine at all for a few days."

"Well yes. Like anything that is being tested it is more of a matter of time before it will be revealed if it is successful or not. I just thought to offer it as an alternative since it would be cheaper, and it would be contributing to the study to see if it would be effective on cases such as yours. Although I can assure you that no one is going to force you to do anything  you don't want and if you're tired of being passed from medicine to medicine I can imagine you'd rather have some solid results."

He stood up from out of his chair and went to some of the cabinets along the wall. Sifting through he retrieved a sterilized blood draw kit as well as a set of latex gloves. "Well if you are feeling up for it then we can go ahead then and get the blood drawn done today. I don't mean to keep you too much longer."

Hiroka finished cleaning up and applying the sterile gloves and taking out a small swab to prep with some alcohol, walking around to stand beside Sho. "Can you give me your arm please?" Waiting for the man to comply he began to wipe down the part of his skin that he'd be putting the needle in. He wondered if he could make any conversation with the young man outside of medical. While he certainly was happy to answer any questions he might have had, he didn't figure that it was prudent to just talk shop. He'd already discussed the basics of what he thought might help but he didn't know if that was really a topic to dwell on. "So how's the first year of school been treating you? Think it's any better or worse than high school?" It might have seemed silly to ask but with how fast Hiroka had gone through the schooling system he wasn't quite sure how it was for others.

Sho seemed nice and it was Hiroka's hope that aside from the body chemistry issues that he was having a good time. After the offered arm was properly swabbed he took the needle in one hand and Sho's arm in the other to steady it. "There's gonna be a small stab." He mentioned before inserting the needle and starting the blood draw.

The boy seemed to handle the draw well enough. Practice did make perfect and Hiroka had been able to  hit the vein without any complications. He was steady with his hand as he started to draw the blood. Normally it was a job that was offered to a lower technical assistant but Hiroka figured there wasn't much need in bothering someone else and making Sho feel any further uncomfortable with MORE people hovering around. Reaching out with his right foot he hooked the base of the chair he had been sitting in and wheeled it over so that he could resume sitting while performing the blood draw. As Sho answered it made him laugh just a bit. "Well not being miserable is good."

It seemed to be that Sho still was a bit enclosed. On the one hand it was perfectly fine to sit in quiet but there was some medical value in giving voice to your emotions be they good or bad. It helped release some of the endorphins to help feel better. Granted it wasn't a cure all and the psychological damage of feeling forced to communicating could be more damaging. Like all things it was about balance. "What career are you thinking of pursuing?"

"Creative writing? That's pretty cool." He meant that in all sincerity and offered another slightly broader smile. "Muses can be fickle it's true. Some people benefit from music, others from forcing their brains to work on something else. I imagine you may have your own process. I'm sure that the nausea and body pain hasn't been helping with that." He glanced to make sure the blood draw was still doing so without any difficulty. So far so good. His fingers eased back on the plunger a little to draw a bit more. "When I was little I was always kind of curious about comic books but I never really had time to read any of them. I always had to read medical journals or things of that nature."

He was glad to try and find something for the young man to talk about that he seemed interested in. He rest his body back to just get comfortable for as long as the rest of the drawing needed to be. "For what it's worth you can always use your experiences as something for a character to have to overcome. Or it will help you to draw on the emotion to better convey it in a manner that readers can empathize with. What sort of comics do you handle? Superheros?"

"Well you are right. There's not exactly any plot or anticipation over how something will end. No characters overcoming different things but it can be interesting how people use the laws of medicine to come up with new solutions. So that part can be interesting at least. Growing up to be a doctor seemed almost all bet set out for me. Mom was a nurse and I had a gift for healing so it just seemed the path I should follow. It can get to be a little stressful though." He finished with the blood draw and removed any remaining air from the hypodermic before taking a swab and wiping his arm.

"All done." he said with a positive nature as he put the vial of blood down on the counter and took up the preset bandaids from the kit and with a practiced ease tore away the paper to apply the them onto his arm. "I'll have to look your work up some time. Do you have a favorite character to write?"

It was encouraging to see Sho finally speaking about something with a heartfelt manner. It was for the first time since he'd walked in that Hiroka felt like he was getting to see the real Shouta. Not just the frustrated and pained part of him but the real him underneath. He took his pen and quickly labeled the vial before taking off his gloves and discarding them into a trash bin and the needle into an appropriate container. "That sounds great. Sounds like you have a good mind for character development. No fun in a person who just starts off great and never has to overcome anything. And there is something to be said for the value of hard work. Even gifted people are going to eventually hit spots where natural talent only goes so far and they will have to fight to get past it."

Really he spoke from experience. Even with his gifts he had to keep pushing forward and finding new ways to handle medicine and helping others. He'd had to learn the hard way that no one, no matter how skilled, had to work if they wanted to become better. For some it was harder than others but in his studies the brain was hard wired for some natural skills to come easier. Genetics did give some people advantages in certain departments, but it didn't mean a person couldn't -learn- genius in some aspects either. Studies also showed superhuman intellect feats could be practiced and not just inherited. It was a fascinating study. "Alright Sho, is there anything else I can do for you today? I can give you some samples of anti-inflammatory to maybe help the muscle pain. It's a natural supplement so it shouldn't make you sick. it might not help the pain but I do feel odd just having you leave and not trying to do something to help and leaving you miserable a few days."
