Getting Answers [Hiroka/Yuuto]
« on: February 16, 2022, 08:00:38 pm »
Sho had requested to see his doctor earlier than scheduled. Technically, he wasn't supposed to see him for another month but due to what'd happened recently, he had no choice but to request to be seen sooner. He was thankful he could be squeezed in to be seen today which helped greatly. He wasn't enthused about seeing the doctor. Far from it. No, he wanted to know the results of the blood work the man had gathered from when he first saw him. He was told during his second visit with the man those results hadn't come back yet for anything conclusive and they were still checking his labs in order to give him a proper answer regarding the symptoms he described he'd been having. Sho could say this much, at least his new doctor was doing more to find out what was wrong with him rather than just slapping a band-aid on the issue and calling it a day.

Once his classes were done for the day, he'd made his way over to the medical building. And he didn't have to worry about telling Sadie he needed the day off for it because once he'd told her what happened she practically threatened him to see his doctor and find out what was going on. At least she wasn't barring him from returning to work because of it, thank goodness. It's not as if Sho wasn't frustrated about what he was dealing with. He wanted answers too and it felt like he hadn't been getting them from any of the doctors he had before. Doctor Hiroka was at least willing to work with him and felt fine changing his medication from pills to the shot. He did make sure to bring all of his medication with him and it'd been a week since that incident at the Melody Cafe and being taken to Yuuto's apartment.

Which, by the way, he discovered was in the same exact complex where Sadie lived. So, that was another awkward discovery. It seemed that the universe was giving the green-eyed young man a giant middle finger a lot as of late. Well, for today, he was thankful that he wasn't dealing with his Heat anymore. That's finally calmed down until he has to deal with it again. But at least he didn't look like he was at death's door like he could just die at any given notice. Sho sighed as he finally reached the medical building on Kaibara's campus, walking straight down the hall to sign in on the sign-in sheet first and then made his way to Doctor Hiroka's office, knocking softly on the door before going inside. "I'm here. Gomen for taking up your time on short notice ," he apologized to the man as he sat down in the chair across from his desk.

Things had been par the norm at the hospital. With the seasons going the way that they were the reports were more often than not that students had once again succumbed to their urges for sexual gratification and Hiroka most of the time just felt like looking at them as if they had no idea this would happen. But again it wasn't the unborn childs fault either and things were just going to be more complicated as it was. Sho and his grit to refuse to give into that was something admirable, it was just a horrendous shame that genetics / nature had decided to double down on him in the effort to pry him into being more sexually active. It had taken some time for the blood work to come back but they finally had some answers which was better than where they had started.

Seeing him enter the room made Hiroka give the familiar congenial nod, exuding the familiar warmth and disposition of a still caring individual, Alpha or not. "Oh it's no trouble at all. Always happy to try and work people in." Adjusting the familiar chair so he could get a bit more comfortable as he would give the green haired boy his undivided attention. "I wanted to let you know that your blood results came back."

Sho was surprised that he didn't even have to bring up his blood work results from the first time he'd seen his doctor. He was finally going to get an answer today regarding what was wrong with him. Why his Heats were so unbelievably painful to a point that he was vomiting. He didn't think the lack of sexual desire would play a part in that but any answer was better than no answer. Admittedly, he felt scared to know what the results were. Part of him wondered if he had a severe medical condition that was the cause behind everything he's been dealing with. Compared to his previous doctors, the green-eyed young man was thankful that Doctor Hiroka took the time out to willingly find out answers instead of just not looking at all to make sure nothing was medically wrong with him. While he hoped there wasn't, that fear lingered and he couldn't help but feel on edge as he laced his fingers together in his lap while giving the doctor his full attention.

"I see," Sho finally responded after a long moment of silence that caused him to sigh a little, "s-so what did the results tell you? Is it serious?" he asked. Having waited this long to receive a definite answer, one would imagine that it would be serious. There was a lot of that Sho could think of that would medically be wrong with him that's the cause of his painful Heats. He couldn't avoid it or turn away from it. This was what he wanted to know for the longest time. He didn't expect it to be good news but it was better than being given obvious alternatives to his problems without at least trying to do tests on him if necessary. He frowned a bit, lowering his head as he sighed again. "Gomen nasai, I'm just ... feeling a little nervous about what you're going to tell me. I'm not excited but a feel somewhat relieved to know that you're able to tell me what's going on with my body and why ... I've been going through what I've been going through," he explained a little, while being openly honest about how he felt.

Hiroka did his best to try and still exude a more positive aura than a negative one. Even if someone was receiving bad news, the psychological effect of not losing hope was important. The mind was a powerful tool and in many cases could play a significant part in the healing or worsening of a patients symptoms. In Sho's case he was young and though he had been concerned about this problem worsening, it would help that they finally found the root of the problem. Even if it wasn't the simplest or best answer they could have hoped for, it certainly wasn't the worst. He took the manilla folder and would pass it across the desk in case Sho wanted  to examine it for himself. While the information inside was highly medical, he wanted there to still be a sense of open honesty with him.

"Well the blood work has shown that you are really more of a Dominant Omega. What that means is that a lot of the genetic traits more attributed to Alpha testosterone and libido are present with your Omega genes. It's also likely to be the  reason your heats are extra painful. The factor that when the heat cycles hit that you aren't um -relieving- the tension is what's likely causing it to compound on itself." He hoped that Sho understood he wasn't trying to encourage him to go out and just screw. "Please understand that I of all people don't think youngsters need to be going and having sex just to relieve their tension, but in your case it does seem that there is an actual medical need for some form of sexual release." He opted to speak a little quicker. "Not that I am saying you should go find a heat house or grab someone. But it um might be medically helpful if you have a method for... alleviating... your desires.."

A manilla folder was slid across the desk towards Sho as the doctor had begun to explain his results. Sho had grabbed the folder to peek at these very results that were being explained to him. His expressions were a mixture of confusion and horror at what he was being told. He looked his results over before glancing back up at his doctor, the color in his cheeks stained red from this information. "I-I've never even heard of a Dominant Omega before. We never learned about anything like this. What ... makes a Dominant Omega different from just simply being an Omega? I didn't think there was such a thing..." Sho was clearly confused. He wasn't lying when stating that he'd never learned of there being a different type of Omega. Unless they were infertile but as far as he knew, that was a rarity. It wasn't common that Omegas were infertile. So for there to be such a thing as a Dominant Omega ... he couldn't help but want to research further into this for more answers.

What he wasn't looking to hear was that the reason his Heats were so incredibly painful wasn't just based on the genetics but simply because he wasn't relieving himself an Omega should. That just made him sigh again as he closed the folder in his hand. Granted, he wasn't telling him to go out and have sex with random strangers or go to Heat Houses to do it but he just really couldn't be bothered with that. He wanted to avoid the subject entirely but knew he couldn't because Sadie would grill him for details. He had no choice but to talk to his doctor about everything. Narrowing his eyes, he gave the doctor his full attention again. "So me having nor experiencing no sexual desire to do anything wouldn't even matter would it?" he asked, almost in a slightly sarcastic tone. "What about the vomiting and passing out? Is that something Dominant Omegas also deal with or are there just special cases where it's different?"

Hiroka could understand and respected the young mans frustration. It was certainly the last thing he had wanted to hear when coming in today but at least they knew the source which meant potentially having a solution. He would rub his lips together as he tried to feel out the best words to say. "Dominant Omegas are a little different than traditional Omegas. it isn't that you're infertile. In simpler terms it's like this. Your body has the designs of an Omega. You can procreate by getting pregnant, produce slick, all of those things. Under all of that though you do have Alpha hormones at work. It's quite plausible this is a reason your sex drive is kind of out of sorts. Think of it like your active body wants sex but it isn't quite certain the kind that it wants. Now there are also studies that indicate that of course gender and sexuality are not always hand in hand. That could also explain your mind not being to keen on the idea but your body certainly is."

He would ease back a little and look at the folder as if it were a puzzle to be solved. "You will need much stronger suppressants which I can prescribe but I do fear that the nausea and blacking out is because the chemical balance in your body is getting more and more out of alignment. Each heat cycle that comes and goes without you, how should I say this? Alleviating the tension? Is just going to make it worse." He would cough a little at the awkwardness of the conversation. "If you don't mind my asking, do you ever or have you ever pleasured yourself?"

Sho had already figured that was the case a long time ago. His body wanted to mate but he didn't. He just didn't know why his Heats caused him so much pain. Why he basically had little to no sex drive and therefore never had an interest in the act of sex with anyone. Like any college student, he's watched porn before. Although not for the same reasons his peers and friends watched them. He never got off on watching porn. It didn't appeal to him in that fashion so it always ended up with him just watching it and hoping there was some form of a plot within the many weird sex scenarios. He stopped questioning his friends' sexual interests. They just came across as weird to him. He pushed those thoughts aside and tried to focus back on the information he was being given. 'A Dominant ... Omega ... so ... I'm not infertile by any means but ... does it mean I'm more fertile? Iie, that can't be right. That doesn't sound right at all...' Sho thought as he pondered more before asking further questions.

"Why ... do Dominant Omegas possess Alpha pheromones if we're not Alphas?" he queried. That was one question he'd like answered. He'd probably do more research on his own when he got back to his room but he wanted to know if the doctor could explain it a little more. How is any of this even possible? And just how common are Dominant Omegas? It didn't seem like something that was common if it took this long to gather results from his blood work to determine this. Sho had so many questions but he was respectfully trying not to overload his doctor with all of them that were circulating in his mind at this moment. He was about to ask another question but became distracted by the doctor's next question that caused the color in his face to darken and he used the folder to cover his face and hide behind it embarrassment and anger. "Iie! Of course not! I told you, I don't feel anything or have a desire to do anything!" Sho answered angrily. No amount of watching anything was going to fix that and he didn't want to be recommended to either.

Hiroka kept his composure even in the wake of the small outburst. He would put one hand up in a respectful show of appeasement. It would have been easy for most Alpha to flex their authority and give him the order to calm down, but Hiroka prided himself on keeping those sorts of things in check. Sho had a hard enough time trusting Alphas and his history with doctors hadn't been great either. "Sho I'm just trying to help you." He would keep his voice even and calm, almost a practiced soothing to it as if speaking to a startled animal. "It's more than likely a version of autosomal dominant disorder. That is when an otherwise recessive gene becomes mutated to show up when it otherwise shouldn't. It actually means that most likely one of your parents carries that mutation but it only presented by being with you."

He would lower his hand. "Although rare, normally it would likely just cause an Omega to be slightly more assertive with a partner but given your disposition towards a lack of sexual interest your hormones and testosterone have no alleviation so they mostly just get backed up, thus causing the tension that we spoke of before which is putting the strain on your body."

All Sho could do was groan in dissatisfaction. Whether he liked it or not, it all boiled down to him needing to pleasure himself in some form despite not wanting to or having an interest. He couldn't wait to hear how that issue was going to be fixed is what his brain sarcastically thought. Though he did wonder if his parents ever heard of something like this. If they had, why wouldn't they have mentioned it before? Was it apparently not an issue for either of them? More questions that couldn't be answered in one session. Because he knew the answers he sought he'd have to seek out from other parties. Omegas being more dominant with their partners wasn't something uncommon that Sho was unfamiliar with. Many of his classmates couldn't or wouldn't shut up about their mating encounters. He disliked listening to them. He was pretty sure his doctor had to listen to stranger stories and situations from other students on campus but his own was probably a more interesting case. He took the time out to run tests to figure out what was wrong with him. Even if the answers that were given just sounded very strange and made no sense.

But there was one question he knew he needed to ask. For that, he couldn't hide his face. Not entirely anyway. He lowered the folder in his hand if only to where his eyes were visible and his eyes were once again on his doctor. The expression he showed was clearly an annoyed one because it felt like he was being told the same thing as before just in a different way. He didn't disbelieve that he was a Dominant Omega. He just didn't think it lined up with Omegas being more dominant with their partners. From what he was told, there was probably more medically that Omegas such as himself had to deal with. But the one question on his mind currently was, "Is ... not doing anything a risk to my overall health?" Sho asked aloud. If it wasn't life-threatening then why couldn't he just have stronger medication and that be the end of it? Why did there have to be more to it?

Hiroka knew that it was the last thing the boy wanted to hear. He would take his hand and stroke his neck a little as he tried to still think of alternatives. He'd gone over it multiple times in his mind and had picked up several books on the matter before Sho had even come into the office. He didn't want the young man to think He was trying to give him the easy solution that he didn't want. "It's possible that the increased medication might help. It could also be possible that you are looking for a life or soul mate and until you find them your body is going to just be protesting." He would take up the pen from off the desk to tap it as he often did when thinking. "I know this isn't the news you want to hear. I wish I had an easy solution for you but the only other alternatives I have read involve either almost complete hormone therapy treatments just like the type for a gender change operation and is that really any -easier- than what we're already discussing?" He would lean back in the chair, not with a stature of arrogance but just trying to alleviate the discomfort in the air. "My concern is that if your nausea is getting -worse- and -now- you are experiencing blacking out, I'm concerned that things are just going to continue to worsen and it could do permanent damage to your body. Most bodies short of superhuman physiology aren't meant to endure constant strain or toxin which is what you're subjecting yourself to... But we can try the extra strong suppressant but if that doesn't stop the problems..." He trailed off to indicate there would only be a handful of other options after that.

"Eh?" Another line of information that confused him that sounded similar but also different. "Isn't a soul mate another way of saying life partner but fancier?" he asked, brow raised. He also wasn't sure why he was throwing in gender reassignment lingo. That was weird and in no way similar. Sho wasn't trying to change anything about himself medically. He'd already accepted he was an Omega. It'd just meant he had to deal with more struggles in his life being one. He didn't think it would be this much of a struggle. He couldn't help but want everything to be simple but that was asking for too much. Long in this world was simple. Even now hearing the doctor explain that even with stronger medication, the symptoms he'd been experiencing probably wouldn't stop completely. Like everything else, it's just putting a bandaid over the issue. It wouldn't really solve it. Not really. He sat the folder in his lap, his face completely visible as he'd been reminded of when he passed out recently. How Yuuto had been extremely worried about him and how Sadie was definitely upset that he passed out happened a second time.

Now was as good a time as any to mention that. He couldn't be told anything more uncomfortable than what he was already given. He laced his fingers once again, hands atop the folder in his lap as he spoke again. "They did stop for a little while. I felt fine but then the vomiting and not being able to eat and keep anything down returned. And recently I ... um ... ran into an old friend ... from junior high. I don't really know how to explain that situation other than seeing him again is just awkward and making me rather uncomfortable. I'm more confused than I ever was before. More so now that he's working with me temporarily as my graphic artist for my comic because my usual artist has been sick," Sho explained, twiddling his thumbs together. "Anyway, I met with him a couple of weeks ago at the Melody Cafe. Rather I thought I was meeting with someone I didn't know so I took the risk in going out again while being in Post Heat. It didn't get worse or irritating until I'd bumped into a female Alpha accidentally leaving the restroom and she seems rather keen on attaching herself to me. ... I really hated her scent. But she wasn't sexually harassing me and didn't pose a threat. I just ... couldn't deal with her scent. It was too strong and it was giving me a headache. Plus, she wanted to pamper me and I'm just ... not for any of that..."

Sho had to reaffirm his lack of interest in the usual things Omegas did during their Heats. He never nested, he didn't want to be touched, he hated being pampered and treated as if he was a child. The thought of that just irritated him. It didn't matter who it was, he just didn't take to the idea of being pampered. At all. There was no appeal in it for him. But he was far from done with his explanation. The last thing he wanted was to deal with Sadie's wrath if he didn't talk to his doctor about everything. So, he continued on. "Yeah so that ended not very well. That old friend of mine found us and I really wasn't paying attention to the conversation he and the woman had. All I remember was being overpowered with two Alpha scents mixing together made my head feel like it was swimming. And I was out after that. ... Until I woke up in his apartment where he'd taken me. Usually, the scent of Alphas makes me want to hurl but for some reason, it was different this time around and I'm not sure why. It felt like I couldn't tolerate any smells around me. I threw up sure but it wasn't toward a particular scent. I just felt ... ill ... If that makes sense," Sho shrugged.

He would listen to the explanation. In many ways it did cause him to be further curious of the difference in chemical reactions based strictly on scent study, but in many ways he wasn't sure if it would offer any sort of immediate solution. Synthesizing a suppressant based on scent could take a long time but was -possible- in theory. The tapping of the pen slowed and it became a soft scrape of the end of it against the desk while he visibly showed to be pondering over what he had been told. "Well again that sounds like it can be attributed to a set of pheromones' in the scent of Alphas. And life mates are a little different to soul bonding. A soul bond while many have written it off is when there is a sort of particular genetic puzzle piece to match. Some thought of it as destined love others feel there might be something more particular to the genetics but it's the idea of not really feeling much of a desire towards anyone except your sort of destined lover. But there's even less study on that than there is on Dominant Omegas." He would take in another small breath and push himself back up to sitting straight as he looked at him. "If you found an Alpha whose scent doesn't cause you to vomit then hypothetically it might be able to synthesize a pheromone from it that could help but it would take a long time. But if you are getting sick from just the smell of Alphas that just sounds like your condition is worsening because I hate to say it but you won't get very far in life having to live in a bubble to avoid Alphas scents."

"Well, I don't avoid them as regularly as I used to. I don't panic or have anxiety unless one is posing a threat and/or trying to sexually harass me. And um ... that never ends well..." He didn't think it'd be wise to add in that his reactions in those situations usually involve him violently striking them with the nearest object that was around that he could use as a weapon to get away from them. He wasn't nor could he be like Sadie. He actually felt remorse for harming someone and got no pleasure out of it either. No matter how much they deserved it. Still, the explanation the doctor gave regarding soul mates, Sho wasn't sure how to process that. He would normally write off something like that as a folk tale but people with powers and non-humans existed. Was it that hard to believe that two people out of everyone in the world around them were bound by fate? It seemed very unreal, especially for someone like himself.

If that was the case, who would even remotely fit for that? How would he even know? Did it have to be a specific Alpha scent that he didn't vomit towards or was that just a stretch? Now that he thought about it, he couldn't remember the last time he'd thrown up when Austin had been around. In fact, when he was around, his symptoms seemed to have slowed up. Coming to that conclusion horrified Sho a little as he only thought of Austin as a friend and nothing more. His scent was comforting because he had no intention of trying to mate with him. And then there's Yuuto. He didn't even believe the other's scent counted in this situation since he felt ill at the very thought of his body wanting more of his scent. Sho was currently conflicted on what to do. But to his knowledge, those were the main people in his life currently that came to mind. Did he want to use them to solve his problems? Hell no. If he had a choice, he'd rather not.

But it would seem that after a while, his body wouldn't give him a choice and start possibly shutting down on him. That wouldn't be good for him in the long run. Sho definitely hadn't wanted that. No amount of not wanting to engage in sexual intercourse was worth the pain. If he had to take care of it himself, he'd rather do that than involve others. It didn't feel right leading anyone on into some wild goose chase of possibly having a soul mate he's bonded to by fate. That felt more unrealistic. And according to the doctor himself, there are even fewer studies on it. He didn't want to stress himself out over that too much. His expression was now a solemn one, appearing defeated as if he had no choice in the matter. Well, he did, he just didn't like the choices presented to him. "It seems like it'd be too much of a hassle trying to figure out what scent I'm bonded to. It's possible that may not even be the case. If I have to ... do it myself ... then I guess ... I'll have to..." Sho struggled to say, his blush returning.

Hiroka could feel sympathetic for the young man and he would move out to take the folder and put it back into its proper place. "I know this isn't the news you wanted to hear today. But the good news is that by figuring out the genetic anomaly it does mean we will be able to get you onto some better suppressants. As for the personal factor, I think you've been doing a great job showing self control and quite honestly I wish more treated it with the maturity and conviction that you do. Far to often are young people just eager for sex and not caring about the consequences. I really do respect what you've been doing. And the factor that you don't want to risk your friendships or risk any unwanted pregnancies or std is really commendable." He tried to offer him a smile of support. It wasn't meant to bloviate on what was going on, but in all truth Sho had just been dealt a really unfair hand. Were things different he probably could go the rest of his life no problem, but his body was revolting on itself. "And maybe if lucky between the new medicine and some small bit of er -relief- then maybe the rest of these problems will clear up."

The doctor was right. It wasn't what Sho wanted to hear but at least he didn't have to wonder any longer about what was going on with him. He finally had his answer. It just forced him in a direction he actively wanted to avoid. His doctor was surprisingly supportive in his decisions and wished others were a lot like him in their decision-making when it came to being sexually active. A person has the right to abstain if they wanted to. They didn't have to give in to their urges simply because their body wanted them to. But those individuals usually have already accepted the secondary gender they present as and just handle business like normal. The thought of contraception or birth control is almost always an afterthought. It's why there were so many pregnancies amongst partners, whether official mates or not.

Sho decided a long time ago he wanted to focus on school and strive to be a comic writer like he wanted. He didn't see himself in a position of raising a family, much less having a mate. He may have managed to calm his nerves when around Alphas, whether they be male or female, and just accepted they exist and move on, but some part of him always remained on guard. That side of him wouldn't completely go away. It'd become second nature in a sense. He knew he couldn't go around violently attacking people and running away. He needed to reign that in which he has for the most part. Now he just had to deal with giving in to his body's sexual desires ... even though he didn't have any. All he ever experienced during each Heat cycle was pain and vomiting. He wished he could just take the medication that would allow him to focus and live his life out without having to deal with that but given the information he'd been told, this would not be the case. He would be doing more research into this on his own after this visit today. At least he had the answers he wanted, the documentation with the results right there in front of him, and more importantly, his doctor wasn't making him feel bad for not focusing on wanting to mate.

... As his previous doctors had done. It's what made him dread doctor visits and doctors themselves. All he needed to do was try and figure on his on where to go from here. Well, Sho had a general idea even if he disliked where his mind drifted off to, making him since once more. "Arigatou, for the answers," he thanked his doctor. "So other than my medication being switched to a stronger dosage because of me being a Dominant Omega ... what about the lack of 'not feeling anything'? I'm only asking because even I'm not completely convinced an upped dosage to my medication would even fix that issue. Or will it?" His previous medications have always been tame in their dosages and his body constantly rejecting them didn't help. So he wondered if a stronger dosage would change his sex drive in some way. He wasn't looking for it but he had to ask. Considering he had to start alleviating himself to reduce the pain he constantly feels during his Heat cycles. He definitely wanted an answer for this.

That and he had another question for his doctor about something completely different and wanted an opinion regarding it. "I had another question as well but I don't know if it will sound strange to you. Um, but what if I ... have no interest in having children in the near future? I've never made plans for it or thought about it. I just prefer to be left alone. And with this new issue discovery, I feel like my body would start wanting that even if I don't. S-So ... I suppose what I'm trying to ask is ... if I don't want children, would it be possible to have that removed later? If I wanted to? With my scent causing problems the way it is being stronger than normal which I don't get, that was something I've been thinking about that might rid me of some of my problems and not inconvenience others anymore..."
