Layla Hamiliton decided enough work was done for the day, having completed ten hours at St. Luke's International Hospital dealing with a myriad of patients that came into the emergency room; most of which those had bad colds and one with a broken foot, and opted to go drinking for the night instead of taking her ass home to study. Not that it mattered. It wasn't like she couldn't study the next day and catch up on some other things. Tonight was just one of those nights where she wanted to be free of any responsibility and to unwind. As much as she loved her job and as much as she wanted to become a doctor, she needed this relaxation.
But first, home. She wasn't interested in showing up at the bar wearing her uniform. A skirt and a sweater would do just fine, add a touch of heels, and she was ready to go. Getting there took little effort on her part, mainly because it was just a hop away by car. Not too surprisingly, it was already packed. She climbed out of her car and locked it, grinning to herself. Perhaps she'd find a cutie to take home tonight. If not, well too bad she supposed. She headed to the bar and flashed her ID at the bouncer who promptly stepped aside and let her pass.
The glowing red lights and the loud upbeat music hit her right in the soul. This was her kind of place. One she could come to and cast all her worries aside. Gin and tonic were on the list tonight. She headed for the bar itself and eased herself onto a stool. "Bartender, hit me up with a gin and tonic cocktail, would you?"
"You got it." It was in front of her in a couple of minutes.
She stirred it a little with the tiny straw and sipped from the glass itself. Ah, yes. This hit the spot. The feeling her tongue was having was almost liking going down into a forbidden place where the cave walls were dark and wet, but very inviting. She squirmed on her stool and held herself together. No time to get uncontrollable. And not the place either. She finished off her drink and requested another one.
"I really think I need some friends," she muttered to herself, pouring the drink down her throat.
