Target Found? (Yukiyo)

Journal Entry 10/22/2020
It has taken a few months since the last big news following the locals or the top tier stars, so far my Journaling freelancing has been pretty stagnant. With school, I am more limited to weekends or late-night journalling. Both have been pretty hard to come by for major news outlets to sell this information to. As for my personal vendetta, I believe I found a potential subject. Most of the information has been redacted but I was able to decipher at least some of the contents, a girl named Sam, Test Subject #24601. Her very low status is a clear indicator that Yokai doesn't care if she comes back alive or in a body bag. I don't care. All that matters is I see my family. I will bring them in, first, I have to go to Ueno, there has been news article sightings and rumors matching someone matching the description redacted. Sam... You won't be missed.

With the entry finished, Kasane closed her journal and pen before stuffing them into her left pocket. The snow-haired teen narrowed her eyes as she ran out of her apartment, no words given to Naomi as she left with an open swing, a slam of the door, and a lock.  She doesn't want Naomi to see this side of her, she'd just get in the way and she doesn't know if she could stand it. She quickly made her way out of the home complex, moving as fast as she can, checking her right pocket to assure the Arrowroot knives were in the pocket. She smiled slightly as she felt the cold steel, she was ready. A step closer to find her family. The obnoxious smells she faced when rushing her way to Ueno park was nothing short of dizzying and nauseating, but with a clear goal in mind, she fought through it to reach her goal. Sacrifices had to be made and being in that one percent of Alphas, it was definitely difficult to say the least. All that was on her mind was taking in Sam.

She rushed even faster to Ueno, crossing districts was hard, especially being forced to move manually. Yet, Kasane started running, using unconventional routes and the necessary parkour skills to race from A to B. Once she saw the heard of trees signaling she was close, Kasane stopped moving and leaned against a building wall to catch her breath. Various dumpsters began to vibrate before she turned to them, forcing the objects to stop shaking. The girl walked the rest of the way, it took a bit but she arrived. Hopefully, they are here. The teen though as she walked through the park entrance.

Yukiyo noticed that later in the day seemed to be the most likely time for the park to be empty, so that's the time she decided on to head out. As per usual, her prediction was correct. Completely empty. Yukiyo took deep breaths as she walked around. Coming for some alone time in the park was probably the most peace Yukiyo could get in a day, due to the fact it's essentially silent. This peace gave Yukiyo room to think. Think about her past, where she came from, stuff like that. She had no reason to run anymore. She was safe. Nobody to agitate her. Nobody to get in her way. The freedom had set in. Yukiyo could have a normal life. A life outside the facility. Well, as long as nothing interrupts her peace.

Kasane walked into the park, already controlling her breathing, keeping her right arm close to her pocket. "Sam! Come out we know you're here! Cooperate and I won't have to drag you back in a body bag." The snowy-haired teen called out, her red hues scanning the area like a predator hunting a gazelle until she found her, rather, someone that looked like Sam. She looked quite comfortable and didn't seem to have a care in the world. Furrowing her brows, as she threw the knives above her, all it took was a  quick blink of her eyes before she had a faint violet outline on both her figure and around the Arrowroots before they swung around her in an extremely passive manner. Without these weapons, unless there was significant debris and fallen trees, Kasane was at a clear disadvantage, but if no one knew the extent of her powers, they were bound to help her unintentionally.

"Sam! Just get up for your own safety, a subject number of 24601 means they don't care if you come dead or alive, make it easy and come willingly." The woman stated in a cold tone as she reached her right arm to the side, the knives following her arm before propelling off to cut some tree limbs, help give her an advantage in case things get crazy. Continuing her walk towards the tailed woman,  Kasane looked at her for anything obvious to look out for. The wind blew a gust of the scents throughout the park and Kasane's nostrils flared. Fucking Alpha... things definitely are getting more difficult. She clenched her fist and the knives were called back, floating and spinning idly around her as she waited for an answer.

The woman honestly had no clue what the knives succeded at if they even did. She was focused on the woman before her. "Sam, get up."

Unfortunately, Yukiyo's peace at the park had been broken. Yukiyo let out a long sigh as she listened to the strange individual shout. The fact that they were doing this today of all days didn't exactly click with Yukiyo the right way as she heard them mention someone by name. 'Sam'. The name felt familiar to Yukiyo, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Yukiyo wasn't quite sure where the voice was coming from initially before she turned around. There it is. The voice.

Yukiyo started walking towards the individual, keeping an eye on them for sudden movements. "Can I not get 5 minutes of peace and quiet?" Yukiyo exclaimed. Yukiyo was tempted to draw out a knife and prepare for combat but decided against it as to not let the individual in front of her get any advantage over her. Yukiyo simply continued heading towards her, trying to get a gauge on what's happening, and potentially talk normally. Though, at the pack of her mind, Yukiyo knew this wasn't going to end in just a talk, so she was prepared mentally for what may happen next. "God, you're making such a scene in an empty park." Yukiyo said with a sigh, mostly to herself, but wasn't bothered if the girl had heard her. Then a breeze blew past her, it was against her back. Yukiyo had the advantage here in terms of wind direction, though she wasn't sure what this person's potential special abilities may be, if they had any at all. They'd have to be pretty stupid to try to fight Yukiyo alone without any.

'Sam' let out a long sigh, it seemed like she could hear but tried to ignore her. Kasane was here now and wasn't going to give up a chance she searched so hard to attain. She really wasn't in the mood to hurt someone, to kill them, but if that's what it took to find her birth family, well, she wouldn't be here if she was against it. They finally got up, walking up towards Kasane and the floating knives slowed in their spin around her as if they were somehow making too much noise. She stared blankly at 'Sam' when they exclaimed not getting at least five seconds of tranquility. I can give you a lifetime if you test me. Kasane thought as the other woman's scent grew stronger as she neared closer, she narrowed her eyes, simply agitated by that alone.

"I literally couldn't give a Damn about what you want. I'm giving you a choice, Sam. Come willingly and get tranquility that way or you can have as much peace and quiet six feet under." Kasane unclenched her right hand before clenching it back even tighter. A faint purple glow outlined both her and the floating knives, as fallen branches and even wayward leaves began to spiral around her. "I really don't want to do this but this isn't a matter of what I want. Yokai wants you, dead or alive. You shouldn't have escaped, we wouldn't be here if you stayed at the facility." Kasane used her left hand to flick her hair from her face. Naomi, please stay home, please.

The snow-haired girl thought as she waited for a final answer, Kasane's eye twitched as another breeze blew the other's scent to her. God, she smells horrendous.

Why does this girl keep calling Yukiyo, "Sam"? Yukiyo simply assumed she was mishearing the girl. She was still quite a way away so it was a potential problem. She continued walking towards the girl, sticking her hands in her pockets as she did. As she grew closer, Yukiyo could eventually start making out the knives spiraling around her. Yukiyo smirked to herself as she commented "No need to put on such a spectacle for me, besides, those fuckers let me out willingly." Yukiyo ended it with another sigh. Yukiyo was weary of every movement this girl made.

Realistically, Yukiyo didn't have a clue what this girl's power level was, but the floating knives were at least a clue. It would be a likely loss if Yukiyo doesn't find out. Yukiyo thought about getting taking her hands out of her pockets to put behind her back to prepare some weapons, but it'd be a good idea to hide that ability until absolutely necessary, it could come in useful for the girl to underestimate Yukiyo, though Yukiyo somewhat doubted that would happen. Yukiyo then added to her previous statement. "And I'm not going back without a fight." She stared the girl down. She was ready if it ended up in a fight.

Someone let her out willingly? Bullshit! Like I'm going to believe that. Kasane thought as she noticed a tree limb in the brushes behind 'Sam'. She took mental note of it, staring at 'Sam' awaiting her answer. She continued watching 'Sam' as she moved closer to Kasane. The faint aura,  grew more brightly as she moved into a more defensive stance. She wasn't going to go without a fight. "So be it..." Kasane threw her back arm forward, ordering two of her knives flying to 'Sam' without hesitation. She pulled the same arm back, but the knives kept flying at the other woman. It was just enough mental focus to pull the branch rapidly to the back of 'Sam's' head. Kasane took a quick back step, ready to dodge the branch she pulled in the event 'Sam' avoided it.

She said she wasn't going back without a fight, Kasane wasn't going to go easy. The low ranking of her number meant she had any and every right to whatever she decided, all that mattered was that she was delivered back to Yokai. By any means necessary. "Just give up, Sam. This isn't going to end well for you, I WILL get my family back!" The girl yelled, preparing her body for the absolute worse as a flick of the wrist sent the rest of the knives at 'Sam' in a crescent arch.

Yukiyo let herself smirk as she noticed the girl take a more defensive stance, edging ever closer to the girl. Now Yukiyo could hear her clearly, she was definitely calling Yukiyo, "Sam". Then it clicked. That Sam girl she met at the facility got out. This only made Yukiyo smirk further as she knew the girl was now out of their clutches. Setting her mind back on the matter at hand, Yukiyo increased her speed, working her way to a sprint. Then Yukiyo noticed something in the corner of her eye, a branch heading straight for her. Thankfully, Yukiyo used her tail to her advantage, slamming it into the ground at the same time as a jump, which sent her into a front flip. Yukiyo just about caught the branch against her tail, slamming it into the ground under her as she landed on her feet once again.

Yukiyo continued her sprint towards the girl, approaching ever closer. "My name isn't Sam. I didn't escape. If I did, there wouldn't be enough staff in that god-forsaken place to contact your people. My name is Yukiyo Akuma." Yukiyo shouted, creating a katana with her blacksmith ability. This particular katana emitted red-colored energy around it, glowing the same color as her eyes when she uses the ability. After this creation, Yukiyo slows herself down with the help of her tail, taking a defensive stance with the katana as this girl's knives flew at her. Yukiyo prepared into this defensive stance ready to swing the sword to either block or completely destroy these knives. "What has MY capture got to do with YOUR family." Yukiyo shouted, swinging the blade at the first knife that got close to her, knocking it off course. "This doesn't seem like a very consensual agreement between you and your employer. Yukiyo continued, swinging again as the second knife approached her. "They're probably using you to get their way" Yukiyo shouted finally, as the third knife stabbed into her tale, causing an audible grunt from her.

Reason was certainly gone, rationale followed soon after. Kasane hyper fixated on 'Sam', the Randall girl was easily feeling her body's adrenaline spike. She narrowed her eyes in annoyance as the woman opposing her used her tail to catch the tree branch, sending it crashing to the ground in a frontflip, both girl began entering their combative maneuvers, with the other making the wild claim she was not Sam but a Yukiyo Akuma. Well... I can't talk my way out of this, already too committed, oh well, they can't be able to tell the difference, basic is a girl with a tail, I'm sure she will suffice. The white-haired teen thought as she continued to rush Yukiyo, not giving it a second thought about trying to rectify this peacefully. 'Oh, sorry for the murder attempt, I thought you were someone else.' That almost sounds worse than actually seeing it through. The white-haired teen sent the rest of the daggers upon seeing the tailed woman conjuring a red sword out of the Damn air.

If it were an alley or a junkyard, the Randall would have the upper hand. Here, she had to improvise better than a stand-up comic failing his planned gimmick. The girl's eyes widened as she watched the other smack away her thrown knives with the blade. One was knocked off course, and the second was practically smashed. Kasane stared at the woman mentioned there was a better chance they were simply using her. "Then I'll just use you to negotiate Yokai to hand my family in trade of not burning you!" The Randall emphasized as the third blade pierced itself into Yukiyo. She threw her right hand in the air and the four non-broken knives pulled from wherever they were to spin like a violent tornado around her. "Think I'm wrong? Quit barking and show me some bite!" The female Alpha stated rolling to the side as she waved her left arm in a horizontal arch, sending the four blades back at Yukiyo once more.

Kasane started breathing heavy, her irritation and frustration only further elevated by the misidentified target, her nose started the bleed slightly as things started feeling off around her.

Yukiyo let out a gasp as she was yanked into the air by the singular knife stabbed into her tail. This did not distract Yukiyo much though, especially considering she had already noticed more knives approaching her, and looking up, which was now down, she watched what was left of the knives she had already dealt with fly up and start flying around her in a rapid circle. She closed her eyes. Any normal person would think she had given up or gone insane in this situation, but inside her head, it was an entirely different story.

I thought I told you to only come out when I was close to death.

Have you not noticed the situation you're in?

I've. Got. This.

Yukiyo thought to herself, trying to get her guardian to subside. It worked. Yukiyo's eye's flashed open as the knives approached ever closer to her, some spinning around her violently. After a second, Yukiyo noticed the pain in her tail as the knife holding her up sliced down the tail. This sparked an idea inside her. With a deep breath, Yukiyo sliced cleanly through the base of her tail, freeing her from the trap. With the momentum used to slice her tale, Yukiyo reorientated herself to land on her feet, landing in a defensive position, preparing to destroy these knives if needs be. While in this position, she carefully positioned her feet ready to sprint at the girl and bring her sword right up to her neck. Yukiyo had no intent to kill, even if this random girl did ruin her peace. Yukiyo needed no words this time.

One-chan! Onee-Chan! Kasane further narrowed her eyes. Further recalling and sending the daggers to tear at this girl. This feeling? The white-haired teen watched the mayhem she was causing to Yukiyo yet while she felt terrible doing this to her, she was as close to the 'Sam' she needed. Kasane needed to see her family, she needed to know where she came from and this was the only way. The woman swung her hands faster, forcing the daggers to do their worst. You and me, we're sisters. And that's all the family you need. The Randall winced in visible pain as nose began to bleed slightly more. "I... I need to do this." The teen thought as she closed her left fist, sending the rest of the daggers to tear the tail.

Yukiyo beat her to it by slicing off her own tail and Kasane watched as she was shocked that the girl would do such a thing. She brought up her hand and her daggers flew back to her, along with it, small branches and leaves. Kasane groaned in frustration as she outstretched her right arm, forcing the daggers to spin in a blinding ring around her. She was about to send them in a power-drill-like fashion, however, Kasane held herself at bay when Yukiyo came up close with her sword and Kasane closed her eyes.

No matter how far you go, no matter what you do... we will always be family... and that, that is all you should ever need.

The knives suddenly dropped, she could still smell that awful stench, but... why wasn't she dead? Kasane opened her eyes to look at Yukiyo, a hint of terror more in her eyes than the anger days before. "You-.... You are... you're telling the truth..." Kasane began holding back tears. "I can't... I just... Please... help me. Yo-Yokai... I don't have the strength to get them back... I have to do what they tell me... or I never can." At the risk of cutting herself, Kasane used her fingers to push the blade away from her neck before falling to her knees. "Leave me here, I'll just say they got the info wrong." Kasane bowed her head, holding back more tears and she felt her head screaming in pain.

Yukiyo let out a long sigh as her pursuer's tough exterior crumbled before her eyes. A small, but increasing in size, part of Yukiyo felt bad for the girl, but the currently larger portion was still annoyed Yukiyo's peace was broken. However, not annoyed enough to kill. As the knives slowly dropped out of the sky, Yukiyo wiped a bit of blood from her cheek, almost tempted to run and grab her tail as an offering or something, but she couldn't trust this girl. Thankfully, her tail ending up on the ground shouldn't be too much of a big deal, considering its scales.

Yukiyo thought for a second before squatting down and placing her free hand onto the girl in front of her's hand. "I am here. As much as you have hurt me, I cannot risk you getting hurt because of me. I know what these types of people are like. Let me offer you a peace offering. You may have my tail, either to cook and eat or something else." Yukiyo moved her hand from the girl's hand to her chin, lifting the girl's head back up to look at Yukiyo. "I will help you. Just ask." Yukiyo said, trying to put on a reassuring smile, but it kind of failed thanks to the fact Yukiyo doesn't really smile all that much.

And just as quick as she pulled it out, Yukiyo's sword disappeared, refueling Yukiyo somewhat, enough to make a dagger again, at least, if needed. Despite not being the biggest people person, that sympathetic part of Yukiyo seemed to have taken over at that moment, causing her to offer help to the girl. Yukiyo didn't get the girl's name, though she was sure if the girl were to ask for assistance, names would be exchanged. As much as Yukiyo didn't like people that much, she hated legitimately evil people and corporations even more, and it was pretty obvious to Yukiyo that the girl in front of her wasn't evil.

The thoughts of failure were nothing compared to the thoughts of the outcome. The white-haired teen couldn't imagine all the possibilities that awaited her, all the hyper-realistic and the terribly impossible played in her head, but with no concrete frame of reference, every thought had enough reality to it to freeze the very bones of the girl. It wasn't easy on her, she was barraged by the thoughts of losing access to a family she hasn't met or worse, losing her adoptive family and in turn the closest person in her life, her sister Naomi. How her life got so on the verge of destruction was beyond her. How her life got so twisted to the point a simple push was all that was needed to make it snap was a question she had to ask herself almost every waking moment, and the only solution required her to put her desires before what she already had. It wasn't impossible but she did wonder if she had the desire to do it or if she was just purely spineless? If she was happy with how her life is or would she be happier to see how her life could be? Kasane took a rather deep inhale but the terror of seeing the other girl squat down drew pause in Kasane.

What? It was all the correlation her thoughts could muster as she felt a hand placed on hers. Before Kasane could gather her thoughts and pull back, Yukiyo before her began to speak. Despite Kasane being the aggressor here and aiming to cause harm, worse, lethal harm; Yukiyo spoke that she could not risk having Kasane hurt because of her. The words and the situation didn't click with her, her eyebrows furrowed as she was lost in a sea of thoughts. People don't work like that?! Do they?! Why isn't she made? Why am I still here? What is going on?! To say she was worried was an understatement, to say she was freaking out still wasn't enough to coherently transcribe what she was feeling. Quite essentially, her emotions were far gone over the edge, only able to hold place by the difference between her and almost every other human. That smell... that horrific smell which emanated from the hand now moving to touch her skin below her chin. What hurt from all of this; despite looking so vulnerable, so fragile, so pathetic, was the burning sensation in her nose.

"You can't help me if I can't even help myself... please... go." It was all Kasane could say, all she could manage anyway, before putting her forehead against the ground. "Please... just go." The girl repeated, smacking the ground to enunciate her words. Both leaves and knives were seemingly pulled in closer by the action. "I don't know... if I'm even worth helping... I... I don't think you should be close to me.'

Yukiyo didn't move an inch from in front of the girl, yet carefully watched as so many objects, including the girl's knives, drew closer to the pair. "Considering our current position, I could kill you at any moment." Yukiyo paused for a moment and sighed again, close enough for anyone to be practically overwhelmed by the smell of pine tar the girl was giving off, yet far enough away to not leave herself vulnerable. "Yet here we are." Yukiyo continued on.

"All this skill. Yet you lost to me, Yukiyo Akuma, a common street rat. I can't even imagine what Yokai would do to you." Yukiyo continued watching as the debris drew closer still, thinking about getting up and moving it herself, but not wanting to take her eye off the girl before her. "This is honestly the most I've spoken recently. All to try and help you." Yukiyo tapped her foot on the ground. "Let me help you."

Kasane held herself up, held herself back from crying. Yukiyo worded out the obvious that has been since the moment the girl charged at her with the blade she conjured. Kasane wasn't in any position to fight, yet, Yukiyo felt the need to reiterate her point. Did she take the enunciation in a malefic manner? The Randall didn't care; frustrated and conflicted, her well-being had far been gone in her mind, all that remained was hazy strife. The girl continued to talk, however, it was increasingly harder for the white-haired teen to listen. Her head felt like it was being drilled into, she couldn't feel a thing yet she could feel even the air breezing through the stitching of her clothing. It was odd, yet, it felt so natural. The girl could feel herself losing it. She could stifle her ability so much but it was still affecting the world around her. She couldn't completely control it, especially under tense emotional conditions, so it was quite surprising to her she could hold it back. Yukiyo continued on, stating she was of insignificant standing yet she beat her, and she couldn't imagine what Yokai would do.

Kasane didn't want to entertain the thought and knew she couldn't just leave empty-handed. There was still an idea of just reporting it was simply the wrong target, that the information wasn't accurate. The truth or a white lie... what would be worse and what can Yokai do to her. Kasane simply fell quiet, well, quieter than she already was. The girl's eyes simply watered as the items stopped moving closer. She tried to slow her breathing. Yukiyo put her in a painful position, not cause she could easily lose her life, but because she appeared so broken and weak. She had no choice, but it wasn't like right she wanted to choose. "O-Okay... but... how? Yukiyo... I don't know how to thank you." Kasane reflected slightly before closing her eyes again and sighing. Everything here made sense but at the same time... it didn't. The Randall's eyes snapped back open, "I guess if you're going to help me... Kasane... Kasane Randall." Her name was announced in a rather quiet tone, as if only she was to hear, yet there wasn't anyone else here.
